H.R.6257 Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 (Introduced in House)

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill...bill=h110-6257

"ALL ACTIONS:
6/12/2008:
Sponsor introductory remarks on measure. (CR E1229)
6/12/2008:
Referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.
7/28/2008:

Anyone have any further or updated information on this bill? Is this "The One"?

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

It's been stuck in subcommittee limbo, which is good for the moment. I'd guess that no one wanted to move on it until after the elections. The blogosphere will explode once this bastard starts moving again, probably once the new Congress takes office.

I think our only *temporary* saving grace is The Man has a few bigger fish to fry before they turn their heads to this.

In the meantime use this bill as a "Guide to Collecting Assault Weapons". Buy anything and everything you can get your dirty mitts on!!

I'm still concerned, because it won't be Obama primarily focusing on this, but all of his fellow Democrats, who now hold a stronger majority in Congress. THAT is what I'm far more fearful of.

Totally agree. In my context "The Man" would be govt in general.

That was my speech to anyone who told me they weren't voting because they didn't like either candidate. You still need to vote for your Rep and Congressman!! They, at this point, are going to be the one making a larger impact. But most people were still idiots and still didn't vote.

+1 they dont have to worry about their approval ratings like presidents do. they approval ratting was like 11 or 12% before the election. so what did we do? reward them by electing more democrats. thats not change!
