The post originally said $400.

It's a great pistol, I wish I had some cashola I could offer.

But I'm leaning towards a .45 myself.

I should really learn to fire a gun with a normal safety like the 1911. The XD spoils me with it's simplicity. I have two already.

outdated-shmated! There's a reason that even today, almost all top-level competition pistols are 1911s. There's also a reason that the military's elite units have ditched the M9 in favor of the 1911. (the lameness of 9mm ball ammo is only one)

John Moses Browning should be canonized.
The two most kick-ass small arms still in use today, the 1911 and the M2 .50 are JMB designs. (The hi-power is pretty kickass too)

anyway........

Someone buy this man's XD so he can get a 1911!

I really think we need to do a CLSB range day. I've never shot a 1911 and would like to shoot a high end one. I'm sure I'll be adding that to my list of obsessions.

We carried the 92FS when I was in. They suited us fine but we were pilots, medics, and grease monkeys (me be the grease monkey). lol. We were trained that if we were shot down and involved in a E&E type scenario that if someone started shooting at us the best defense with the 92FS would be to throw the pistol at the attacker. lol.

I hear that a lot. I've had to many vets tell me .45 or nothing. 9mm is a toy round, etc.

I guess I don't get it, never having needed to rely on the stopping power of a firearm for my life or the lives of others. I always figured if the lead goes where you intended it to go, most any round would do.

'tis true, the 9mm ball round sucks. Civilian hollow points make a huge difference, though. Stupid Swiss people and their stupid conventions.
