Look What Followed Me Home

I went to Maxon's Taurus day today... and came home with this.

It's a used Springfield Armory M1A Loaded, that came with a Springfield Armory sling, Springfield Armory Govt. Model 6x40 scope, 1x 5rnd mag, and 3x 20rnd mags. And it only set me back $1199 plus tax!

I've already decided that I'm going to spray paint the stock in an urban camo tiger stripe pattern. I'm just going to use some Krylon paints, which will suit my purposes for now. I figure I can always strip it later, when I want to hit it with duracoat. I had intended it to be a winter project, but think I'm going to go get the paints and do a "proof of concept" on a slab of cardboard.

I think I'm going to need to reconfigure the shelving in my safe. It's getting crowded in there!

Nice new toy

The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character

That's a good problem to have.

Nice new acquisition. Where do you normally go to shoot rifles? I think the closest place is in Sycamore.

When the pepper spray runs out, can I have your number?

Oh yeah, nice!

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Oh my "stimulation" of the economy isn't over yet. I need specific M-14 cleaning supplies... a stock of ammunition... at least 10 20rnd mags... the list goes on and on and on!

OK baller.

Oh hey, on a more serious note, I'm researching refinishing a bit. I think I'm going to be busting out the air brush in the next couple of weeks and working on some of my own projects. I'll make sure to give you a peek as to my progress. I just have to pester Firebretha for some sandblasting as I have no setup for that (yet).

Yeah, I hadn't had a chance to reply to your PM yet, but spend some time researching the major firearms forums (like The High Road). You'll find tons of information about refinishing and painting.

That's exactly where I'm reading up! I also see a ton of paintball forums that have some great tutorials on refinishing.

I'm actually going to practice a couple patterns (and relearn how to use my old ass air brush) on a spare junk laptop or two I have around before I do any work on real hardware. I have two patterns in mind already, I just have to pick the colors and make some templates.
