i am all for the right to bear arms
but
if we think for a second we could hold a candle to the us military should they choose to follow orders to attack or control the US for some reason or another... We are deluding ourselves.

they have training, organization, much bigger and better weapons, and structured leadership.. we have 5% fight 95% do as your told #'s

That said

everyone i know in the military says so
but history... says the opposite

i view it like hot and cold water...
slowly warm the temp up and you can take quite a bit of heat.. go from cold to mildly hot and it burns

some may question the militarization of our police forces

also... some people tend to like power over others.. even if it's wrong..

and many.. many follow orders.. it's what they are broke down and built up to do.

i don think the US would put up all that much of a fight.. Many other countries that were more "barbaric" than ours tried and failed.. We have the most powerful military in the world.. and the fattest and laziest population...

Not to be all doom and gloom.. but .. I'll make room for some of you on my island in Fiji

A principle isn't always an objective.

Some often choose (to their own detriment) to stand on principle. Focus on the objective and plot your course to obtain it and be willing to replot it as the dynamics of the situation change. You will be alive and in a better position to achieve it.

The only 45 I could hit the broadside of a barn with was the Mark 23. I tried an M1911A1 (granted, a used shit and worn out barrel) and couldn't hit jack shit with it.

If you're looking to buy think about used. If you buy new everything's registered to you thru the state. If you buy used the feds would have to knock on doors and follow a paper trail of owners to collect banned items.

Cali's done this with a few... Even Cali cops have gotten into trouble over owning the wrong firearm.

Shot guns are always good. Buy what you want though. Personal choice. Or get some of each...shot gun, pistol, military style, long range hunting.

As for the military...

Well, you do swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That comes first before anything else as those are rights given to the people by the people, not by a president, nor are they to be taken away.

Read the proposed gun ban HR 6257 and use it as a shopping list.

My long term plan:

Any pistol the has a threaded barrel
Any rifle converted for use as a pistol (Sig 556 pistol, AK, HK, etc.)
Any black rifle
Any foreign made shot gun
Big bucks: Barrett .50

Stock up on high capacity everything. Get Beta C-mags.
Stock pile ammo.

I think we have time, at least 2 or more years so avoid buying right now. Let the current hysteria settle down a bit as I've seen prices on stuff I watch, including ammo, go up 1%, 2%, 3%, or more % for no reason.

Is the paranoia really necessary? Do you really think that Congress will write these bills without the Executive branch swatting them down? I mean come on people, the President Elect has only proposed these ideas.

Is it necessary? No, individuals are more than free to make their choice.

What does Cook county Illinois have for current firearms laws? Are they different than other places? Is it relevant to some? Should it be to those that value the Second Amendment restrictions?

For those that think a new AWB won't happen sometime in the next few years I have some fantastic ocean front property to sell you in Nevada. Really, it has stunning views of the surf.

The bill is already in review in subcommittees. Its HR6257 and it was introduced 6-12-08. Unfortunately it was written and cosponsored by 5 REPUBLICANS (what was it that Ron Paul said?). I would guess its not as much of a review as it is a way to bury the bill until the timing is right. Look it up and read it for yourself. Then tell me I am paranoid.

Allow me to quote Obama's OFFICIAL website, regarding policy changes that he and Biden will attempt to push:

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

It's there in plain black and white.
