Anybody heard of "Gene Mosher Guns"

It came up in a couple searches I was doing around the DeKalb area. I was going to go there to have them send in my FOID application. I rode out to the address and it looked like a farm...not a gun shop. I didn't go in, and filled out my FOID paperwork myself and taped a picture on. They seem to only have hours in the evening, and honestly the place kinda creeped me out. It was a "farmhouse" out off a gravel road with no signs, and an outbuilding with a door that didn't latch just swinging in the wind. The only clue I had it might be a gun shop was a building that said something about amunition on it. I pulled a u-turn and rode out without knocking on any doors. Just wondering if anybody has ever heard of this place, or maybe I was in the wrong place...not sure?

If that is the place I think it is, he has been in buisnes for more than twenty years. His shop should be around back in an old machine shed.

Yeah, probably grandfatherd in. Many "dealers" used to run what's called "Kitchen Table FFL". That was halted many years ago, but I've heard that some guys were grandfathered in. The guy I had stuff shipped to in Wheaton was one of them.

I have a Curios and Relics FFL (or at least I did...I'm pretty sure it's expired by now). But that is a completely different type of FFL. I got tired fo trying to find the firearm I'd actually want that were classified under C&R and just gave up with it.

What is a FFL?

And that guy in dekalb is an old school gun smith. He drills and rifels his own barrels. I remember seeing the lathe, back when I was 8yrs old. I was amazed by all the cool stuff in his very crouded shop.

I would recomend calling first, he may be dead, since he was retired then.

Federal Fireams License, in this case a FFL holder. Only someone with a FFL can transfer firearms across state lines for sales.

Why don't you send in your application yourself?

Wow if some of that stuff is true that place could be really interesting to check out. I did send in my application myself. I had planned on going in there to talk to them,I had a few questions about FOIDS, and guns and what not, and had heard sometimes the process is a little faster if a shop sends in your application. But it's in the mail now, time to wait and save up some money.
