Shotgun Opens Saturday!!!

Headin' home tomorrow morning, gonna stop at Cabelas and buy the warmest friggin boots and gloves I can find... supposed to be friggin ZERO degrees on Saturday morning. First time out on the new property, think I'll stay on the ground and out of the wind.

Wish me success, boys and girls!

No, Jason I mean FIRST shotgun... I live/hunt in IA

Got a nice 6 pointer on Saturday evening, he's all tucked away in the freezer. Will post pics when I get home.

Field dressing in 20-degree weather, washing my hands in the snow wasn't so bad - at least his insides were warm! Hauling him out of the ravine was a beyotch... and skinning/butchering him in an unheated, abandoned shed on Sunday morning in single-digit temps was a character-builder to be sure (we hung him at 7:00 on Sat. night, by 10:00 the next morning he was starting to freeze)... but we got the meat home and spent the rest of the afternoon making roasts, chili meat and filets for the freezer.
