870 super Magnum Barrel

Hey I bought an 870 super magnum with a 26" barrel and was planning on picking up the 18 1/2 or whatever the short 870 barrel is for keeping it around the house, thinking all 870 crap was interchangeable. When I was reading through my manual it said all 870 barrel's are interchangeable, except the super magnum. So...does anyone know the difference? Im kinda bummed because I choose the 870 because I thought I could swap things out pretty easy. Didn't realize I was screwing myself by getting the supermagnum.

So what im getting at is...am I going to be regretting getting the super mag...other than when my shoulder is killing me from shooting 3 1/2 all day? Or will most other stuff be ok?

Well it's new and unfired, not even assembled. I could try to sell it if it was gonna turn into a pita.

Thats a nice gun, sell it instead of modifying it. then buy an 870 express to modify.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

870 express should chamber and be safe for shels up to 3"
Super Magnum handles 3.5" shells.

recievers are made diffrent to handle the pressures thus barrels are diffrent

Arrogance has to be earned.
