m1 rounds?

My dad was given this ammunition from one of his coworkers...

On the sheath it says .30 cal 10 rd ball M1.

M1 Garand? If so, I'd love one of those...

Any more info would be great

Garand is 30-06

I'd guess those are 30 cal for an M1 carbine.

Everyone Exaggerates

You don't need an M1. Just hold onto the brass with a pair of pliers, and tap the little primer with a small phillips head screwdriver. Com'on, it's only a little primer...

Yeah terminal performance is sucky compared to most modern cartridges.. I'd give it a hair more than 357 fired out of an M1 rifle, but not much... I've seen guys hit stuff out to 200 yards with it reliably so it's accurate enough.

It *is* getting more expensive, like everything else, so you could probably unload that at a gunshow for some spending money. The rifles themselves are very high priced now, compared to when you could pick one out of the bucket for $100 at most shops...
