Midwest Guns annual range pass

So I did a search for ranges and didn't realize Midwest guns was nearby. I've been meeting Tony out in plainfield. I figured I'd search for something a little cheaper. Anyway I saw midwest guns is closer and has an annual range pass for $250. I called and there are no restrictions. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Anyone else done this or found similar deals? Anyone else want to do this with me?

place is kind of a hole compared to Megasports, but 250 doesn't sound too bad for an indoor range. Are you planning on shooting enough to justify it?

I bet a lot of things are a hole compared to MegaSports. That place is really nice.

The break even point compared to Mega is 10 times if you aren't buying mega sports ammo and about 15 times if you are buying their ammo. I've been going every week, so yes I think it's will be worth it.

Also, ammo doesn't have to be lead free anymore. They lifted that restriction.

did they upgrade their ventilation system? it's been a few years since I've been in there. Even with lead free ammo, it was pretty fume heavy. If people are shooting lead with that same system in place, that could be nasty.

When I used to shoot there it would leave a bad taste in my mouth for a day or so afterwards (literally, not figuratively ).

I hate that when it gets in your sinus's and you taste it the rest of the day. I will usually come home and suck water through my nose then blow it to clean it out.

I haven't been there in several years, but remember it as being quite the shithole. Nasty, dirty, freezing cold in the winter.

Yeah me too. I have a nice little scar on my face from a piece of 9mm ball their backstop failed to, um stop!

Use to go there all the time when I was a kid or came home on leave, have not been back in maybe 10 years or so.

It's a bit nicer than Rinks, a little warmer in the winter, a little bit better lighting. On a 1-10 scale of nice-ness, Megasports being a 10 and Rinks being a 1, I'd give Midwest a 3.

It is nice to have a range that close to home though. It's about 35 miles closer to me than Megasports. Now that they don't require lead-free ammo any more I'll probably start going there again.

I have to check it out. I'd be willing to downgrade facilities to save money as long as it's decent.
