Hey Bruce,

You made a comment aboutthe dovetail design scope mount on your airgun and not liking it, why? That's a proven design that has carried over to several rimfires.

As a matter of fact AI still uses a dovetail on their AW and AWSM series rifles. These go from .308 all the way up to .338.

About the only down fall is the limited choices of rings here in teh states. Not an issue with the AI stuff but we're talking $10 kit. So what's up with the dovetail?

Hers a bad pic of one of my AI's. These mounts run the full length of the dovetail and hold zero like no other.

Spring guns can distroy a scope.Something with the spring stoping at the end of its stroke causes many scopes to fail.I've never had any trouble mounting them on a dove tail.

Tasco has had some bad press but they have replaced free of charge several scopes for fello air guners in the past.

Befor buying any scopes

Spring loaded airguns recoil forward and backward due to the spring piston. Rifles only recoil backward as after the bullet is expelled there is no forward force excerted. Airgun rated scopes have the optics anchored down in the front and back of each piece as rifle scopes only have anchors in the rear.

Thats the diffrence in a nut shell. Funny how a spring loaded airgun could destroy a scope faster than a .50bmg

Henderson:

I just saw this. With my messed up life, I've not been here as much. A PM would be nice. I'll try to take a picture of the Ruger. It will be cell phone quality as the X is getting the DSLR too. The cheap ass rail is marginal. I've also had an old clip fed Remi Nylon with a dove tail rail that never stayed in adjustment d/t crappy clamp on rings. (I used to really like that gun. I could abuse the crap out of it and it just kept going and shooting tight groups. Better than the 10/22s of the day.) Lugging it around camping and squirrling just moved the scope all over the place. I had it drilled with better results. Unfortunately, the free floating barrel would still shift around a little pulling the scope off over time. It is just a personal bias. If I'm going to mount and leave a scope on a sport rifle, I'm drilling it.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.
