Range report === Rusty

With all the free time I'm going to have coming soon I decided to hit the range as I havent shot a gun in about 11 months. Well, a little rusty but I'd out shoot anyone of you guys...LOL, LOL.

15 yards out. I love how th ewind on the range makes the targets rock back and forth. I couldnt keep the rythem or I'd a hit 1st shot.

The top pic is my shooting the head on, the bottom pic is me shooting them from the side.

I don't buy targets at the range. I take a deck of old cards and shoot at them. I also take 3 pieces of cardboard 6" wide and 18" long that I either tape the cards to ( for head on shooting ) or cut a slit into and insert the card for side shooting.

Buddy boy, I've been doing this since 2000, well b4 that show was even on. When I worked at Rink's I would take rental and used guns and do this shit all the time. I laugh when I see Impossible shots. With the exception of the shotgun guys I could do those shots too.

As far as free time goes, look for my other post!

Check out Miller Customs, they do incredible work.

For the record, a $3k 1911 is a total waste of money.

I'm well aware, I've been in the shop with Bob working on some of his pieces, there's a huge amount of labor and skill involved in making them the way he does, not to mention part/material costs. That doesn't change the fact that it's $3,000 for a pistol. I can understand dropping that kind of $$ on a precision rifle with some nice glass but on a pistol, it just seems silly. They may be accurate as hell but with a 6" sight radius, most people realistically aren't going to be able to use that accuracy much past 100' and at that range, I'll come pretty close to being able to match shots with a $500 Glock that has another $50 in trigger work. I won't be as accurate but I won't be 6 times the shot with a fully built custom 1911 either.

That is some good shootin there H.

Ken $3000.00 is a hell of a lot of dough for a 1911. Not saying that I wouldn't spend it if I could, but you can do quite well for alot less.

i see what you guys are saying, and while i understand it and agree with it "on how you guys see it" lets take cars for example.

a Ferrari and a yugo both cares will get you down the road, 1 just does it in more style and performance.

thats the difference and with people that have that kind of budget its no big deal to spend it on a 3000 custom 1911 to have it and or that brand of custom gun.

and thats the brass tacks!

Yes, I understand what you are saying. I did drop a grand on that Kimber....(left me less than satisfited). I guess if I ever get the chance to shoot one in that price range, it may change my mind. Then again my custom does exactly what I wanted it to do, and it was about 1/2 that price.

The other 42 cards are in my range bag. I shot 60 rounds total. the balance of my shots are on the target of the couple in the lane next to me that asked me for help. That always happens when I go to the range. I'm very approachable

Most pistol calibers are no good past 75 yards anyway
