Ya but you kind of take the fun out of it when you try to pheasant hunt with a full auto ar-15 and a barrett strapped to your back.

2weelpilot, where'd you go hunting this weekend?
Went deer hunting Friday and Sat and had a heck of a time finding one cause someone in the area was bird hunting with a shot gun both days.
(I assume they were bird hunting as shotgun deer hunting season is over)

Didn't get anything so I don't have pics to add. But I reserve a spot in this thread for the day I do catch something other than a cold.

I need to take up hunting, it looks like a lot of fun. I even have a big black lab who's father was a Champion hunting dog, but he would need training.

Nice, this year was our first pheasant hunt and got nothing, only seen one $500 bird and a rabbit. Next year we are planning on going to one of those farms that offer guides and pointers.

Pheasant in November at Whitefield Pheasant Habitat which is outside of Henry, IL. It was a free permit from the DNR, so we decided to try it out.

In December, at Crab Orchard Preserve in Marion, IL. My second year there, my friends been there for two previous. Last year we got a doe, this year I got a button buck, one of my friends got a 155mm doe, and the other two got 110mm does.

One of my other friends went to one that was really nice and inexpensive. Good to know about the April date (Thanks!), depending on schedule in March, might have to check it out.

That was around Aberdeen, SD. A supplier of ours sponsored the hunt but I guess the guide/farm owners make around $100/bird plus buying all of our licenses, a couple cases of shells, and we limited out each day 20 guys, 60 birds/day, seems like a pricey trip for them.

I wish I could pheasant hunt this year, i'll have to pick up duck hunting next year with the lack of pheasant down here.

The place where one of my friends went seemed pretty good. I believe the cost was $150 per guy and it included a night stay with pretty nice accomodations, supper, breakfast, nice trap shooting range in the morning then an outing with a guide and dogs. The limit I believe was similar to the state which is two or three per person. I was invited to join them but schedule did not allow it and he and his crew are pretty tight lipped about the name of the place so I do not have any more info about it.

It's been a pretty good year. We've been chasing the buck my Dad shot for three years now. Three years worth of sheds and probably fifty trail cam pics, and each of us had a missed opportunity at him, my Dad with the bow and me with the gun last year. This year we finally got him!

No jewelry on the birds, I'm still waiting for my first.
