That's cause it's gonna be along the lines of the Taurus 1911.

Magnum research is a big importer of firearms. Not very much they have is made by them.

The original Desert Eagle is made by IMI. MR tried to bring production state side and everyone cried for the original.

Either way, name recognition sells. Someone will buy them.

Magnum Research will always mean to me the DE, Lone Eagle, BFR and the Magnum Light rifles

Arrogance has to be earned.

Cosmetics look a lot like a Kimber, could do without the front serations and huge billboard on the slide. Wish them luck, the 1911 market does seem to be a bit crowded these days. Ruger is also rumored to be bringing one out in 2010. They make the frames for Caspian, so that would not be a stretch.

Huh. I was under the impression that Pinetree Castings (Ruger) made the blanks for them. No slam on Caspian, the first home built 1911 I do will be with their stuff.

I could have made my comment clearer. Pine Tree does make the castings for Caspian. But that's less than a 60% frame, so it's like getting a hunk of metal. Caspian then machines it to be a frame. I'm wondering if Ruger will actualy tool up for the 1911 or just cut a sweet deal with Caspian. We'll send you blanks, you macine them for us and we all make $$$. If that's the case Caspian wins because they remail as the supplier for frames and gets a better dicount on castings. Ruger wins because they dont have to tool up for a new item.

Pine Tree is crazy big, they have their foot in a lot of doors!

That's because they made all the metal parts on the doors.

I am sure that is what Ruger will do, if they make the mistake of bringing another 1911 to market (how many more do we need?), as that is what they are doing with their piston AR. Not much is produced in-house on that rifle.

Yes and no, actually many of the "clones" are better than the original. Kimber, Wilson Combat, Les Baer.......
Some hardcore Colt owners wont even touch a Colt made 1911 after the 70 series. Have shot some Colt 1911's and gotta give the nod to my Kimber over them.

Unless it is a John Browning-Colt 1911, the rest are remakes. Browning's design was the benchmark in the test trials for the military on March 20, 1911. Colt mass produced it for the military. John Browning personally supervised the production at Colt's Hartford facility.

That said there are many quality built 1911's on the market, just because it wasn't made by Colt dosen't matter.
