Red Dot Sights

I just bought this Bushnell Trophy MP Red Dot Rifle scope for my AR15. http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell...e-730132p.html

Since this would be my first one, I didn't want to spend a lot of money and this one gets great reviews. I have a Colt Match Target Comp with 20" HBAR and I am not looking for a CQ sight since this is not a carbine.

I am also a little confused between this riflescope and a Holo sight like an EOTech. It looks like they do the same thing, why would you choose one over the other?

Durability with the ability to take a ass whooping. Eotech and the other high end scopes are made to mil spec and can take a lot of abuse.

Bushnell ehh not so durable

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

Unless you are droping your shit, it will hold up fine. Yes the MILSPEC stuff is made to last forever and take loads of abuse, because of the environment they are in.

CF write up a review when you get a chance to test it out?

I prefer EOTech sights as they have no magnification (but you can add a 3x magnifier), they might not last as long in terms of battery life as an Aimpoint but the hologram is MUCH larger and easier to get a bead on than the Aimpoint. The nature of the viewing port on the EOTech also lends itself to a quick accurate target acquisition. Great sights.

Merry Christmas all!

It's all good, I'm just cranky.

The difference comes down to looks in this case. That Bushnell was designed to look like a Trijicon ACOG, a REALLY nice scope that you often find on mid-distance SPR type rifles. Given that it is a 1x power scope and a reddot, it acts exactly the same as a 1x Aimpoint or an EOTech holosight. There will be differences in the reticle itself and features such as Nightvision mode but aside from that, they're pretty comparable. ACOGs come in various powers but there are a lot sold in the 3-4x range and are great sights but at $1,200, most people hesitate to drop that much $$ on one, yoru Bushnell is a good compromise. I prefer EOTech sights for the reasons posted above but as long as it holds a zero when you shoot it and you would trust it with your life, whatever works for you and your budget is the sight you want.

SD out.

If you had ever been out shooting with me, you wouldn't have to ask such silly questions. I have field tested my stuff in the crappiest of conditions, and I am not very gentle on my equipment.

What I am saying is that unless you really beat the crap out of your equipment, you won't have this problem. I'm not saying that you have to treat it like fragile glass either.

price and purpose, thats what it boils down to. As a few have already stated in above posts, it all comes down to what you need vs what you wanna pay.

Typicaly the red dot or holo sights (non magnified) are for distances maxing out at about 100yards. The bushnell HOLO sight was one of the 1st along with teh C-More, Forward (c-more) or rearward (Holo & varients) projecting sights allow for a quicker sight picture to be captured as compared to a red dot. Because of the tube of a red dot your eyes are forced to focus on picking up the dot in the tube then aquiring your target. While tube diameter is a big variable of this the open holo sights generaly are quicker on the pick up so you can see why in battle these are the hot ticket.

Now when compared to magnified optics such as the ACOg or other varients the purpose of the rifle changes a bit as its intent is to go out past 100 yards with a bit more accuracy. this is why you generaly find BDC reticles in these units.

now in regards to price, well..... it's material, R&D and production costs that dicktate that.

Will a Bushnell get the job done, yes! Will it survive a 10 foot fall..... not so much.

I roll a C-More

Arrogance has to be earned.

Thanks for all the info. I am going to return the Bushnell because I found a great deal on an EOTech XPS2-2.
