Shotgun Sling

Any recommendations for a good sling system for a shotgun. It will be for a remington 870 that I will be buying very soon. Looking for something that I'll still be able to go my pistol and work a radio quickly.

If you're not going put all the tacticool crap on the 870, a plain ol' sling works fine.

I carried the M590 for damn near 2 years in Italy. Weak side muzzle down carry is pretty quick on the draw. We had a simliar setup with the sidearm in a thigh rig and radio on left or right shoulder.

Also, we didn't use any of the tacticool mall ninja slings because they prevented using the shotgun in bludgeon mode. especially when you're carrying a sidearm, being able to use the butt of the weapon on someone's jaw or hand (if they reach for the sidearm) is a very effective non-lethal use and great for retention. Can't do that with that new-fangled single point shit.

i used to use this a lot http://www.wilsoncombat.com/sa_slings.asp
and it was good. the only thing i didn't like is when i went to my pistol it was way to loose (since i got a pretty wide chest) it made the system hang to low. but at that point i got use to as i let it down i would swing it behind me.

along with a shotgun use or carbine use i a lot of guys switched over to this. http://www.tacticalaccessories.com/p...id_product=155

you can put a dual sided http://www.urbanertslings.com/vlslatendplf.html end plate on your shotgun and your carbine for normal use or deploying from a vehicle and you need to reverse your barrel swing on the exit or for staging up.

black hawks even makes a duty belt tongue that you can rest the barrel end in to keep it more secure in a relaxed non engagement situation.

the school of thought and its practical findings are:

when the shit hits the fan, and you run out of ammo, malfunction, you can quickly go to your back up.

with this single point attachment bungee if some nut bag grabs it while its on you (which is a whole other story but it happens) you can use your shotgun as a defensive striking tool (if non lethal force is called upon) and most of all, the old school sling all the way around you (straps wise) you are more able to 1 disconnect the shot gun to release it, 2, 1 simple in and over with the arm you are out of it. (so he is not flinging you around and or something happened where that fucken shotgun straps are all over you and your fucken hung up "going up or after someone where the area is tight and or items that can hang you up" rear porch landings, fire escapes, metal stairs, or even in your own fucken car on deploying.

anyway, just a suggestion. the best method is to try a couple set up and put yourself through EVERY situation possible.

a TON of swat and operators use this.

just a suggestion.

I have seen the TIS slings modified for excellent use but the shotguns were highly modified.

I have a sling made for the 870. I'll let it go cheap. It's pretty much brand new. I never used it in the field. All black in color with nice padding.
