Re: Chicago half marathon August 1, 2010....Anyone?

I'm running 6-7 miles right now. I think it would be too much to ask my body to do 13 in the next couple of weeks. If this was later in the year I'd be all for it. But to double your run mileage like that is asking for injury.

You know August is after July right? And like 4 months away. You could train for an Ironman by then. Do it!

Lol. Oh shit!!! I looked at I on my iPhone and only saw the march 31 date for the price increase. I'll check the rest of my race schedule. Although I do hate Chicago anything with a passion! Lol

Yeah I hate Chitown too, but it is what it is. My wife got a hair up her ass to try this again, and I'm ALL for it. Plus there will be a bunch of Desperate Housewives from our neighborhood doing it too, and Scott and his wife also. It should be a good time, of course, after the intense 2 hours of pain are over. Bring ANNimal too.

I threw the "ANNEimal" a text message. Her cousin is in town, staying with us from Boston that weekend, so I'm not sure how she's going to react to this but I'll ask?

I asked. She can't decide. Lol. She wants to see how she's just starting to train for the Brookfield zoo 5k. She wants to see how that files first.

That's not a bad pace really to set a goal for. I think I will be happy with a 9 min/mile pace come race day. The last 9 mile run I did I was only at 9 min/mile pace and that hurt a bit. Definitely couldn't do 4 more miles at that pace right now. I'm gonna try to run at least 10 miles a week and then do one of those Hal Higdon courses towards the event.

IN for the lovely heat & humidity,
the iced towels at the finish line are the best!

I'm on the fence right now. I will make my decision after the first Xterra triathlon I do and see if I like it. There is another Xterra tri close to here the same day as the half marathon, so I'm not sure yet.
