Jogging Strollers

Save the jokes about lack of use. I'm thinking about getting one, a double for the kids. Any suggestions on brand or type? I'll probably try to snatch one up on craiglist or similar since these types of things tend to have low mileage(like my treadmill).

I have had a single but not a double. I will check and see if I can find the brand name and also post if they make a double.

look for an older model burley bike trailer. you can get a third wheel for the front in lieu of the hitch for using it in the manner you are looking to do.

the older ones are built better than the new ones. the newer ones only have the wheels attached on one side, where the older ones have a double drop out for each wheel.

good one

not good style.

The bike trailer style ones seem to have crappier seats for the kids. I have a bike trailer now and not only does my daughter dislike it, the seating area looks plain crappy. I'd like it to have decent seating with separate seats for the kids so they don't fall into each other.

The burley's suck in the seating area as they are no more than stretched polyester on a frame. Good jogging strollers are $$$$. Check out your local bike shop.

Yeah, I see the good ones being well over 3 hundo. I think if I could figure out what the good ones were I could probably snag one on CL for under 200 pretty easily.

I don't know what's your budget, but this worked great so far from any angle other than width in regards to going through some doors

and if I remember correctly it has separate seat adjustments. Kinda pricey but that's the best one I could find at the time we bought it. can be a jogging and regular stroller as well as a trailer. Veeeeery roomy! and it folds up very nicely so you can put it by the wall upright.

my buddy has one of those Burley trailers (the new crappier one i think)
he was doing some downhill mountain biking with the kids and ate it hard.. rolled the trailer and flung himself off the bike..

appears the thing is safe.. neither of his boys were hurt but he got a concussion
hahahaah

oh and the trailer didn't break

BOB FTW.
Your best bet (unless you really want to drop the coin on a new one) is to go to craigslist.
Normally I would advise against used baby gear, but SO many people get these and they go unused. Check the product numbers etc before you buy, but you can get a good deal. Be fast, though-- the doubles go super fast. You'll see as many WTB ads as you will see For Sale ads.

Keep in mind you can't jog with them until they are 8 months. Not sure how old your son is now, but as soon as he hits that mark you're good to go. I was so disappointed to find that out-- I was all ready to hit the road with Lucy last week, and I found a brand new BOB on CL for 1/2 the new price.

There are different models, so make sure you check out what's best for you. I don't do trail running, and I do go fast-- the best choices for that are Sport Utility D'Lux and Ironman. Both come in single or double stroller options.

Son is almost 9 months, daughter turns 2 years in a month. Those BOB models go for big money even on craigslist, but I'll keep my eye out.

That's you get a jogging stroller and not some shitty umbrella stroller. You can hop a curb with these things and not break a stride.

$265

$275

for used, ouch!!

I would jump on that one in willowbrook NOW. The SINGLE Ironman is $349 new.

And don't forget Ken would have a beer in his hand whilst running with his umbrella stroller ... that is, if he would ever man up and have a BabyOdy.

true but the new ironman strollers come with independ sun shades, something the $275 one on CL has(looks to be the sport utility model, knobby tires ugh).

Grandpa Joe bought one of those for Lucy...already. It's a tractor-style one. Silly Texans! I told him we didn't have room for it and he was going to have to hang on to it until she was old enough for it.

And no, Ken. Again and again, NO. But knowing this news does make me feel better about you doing the nasty. We are all safer.

I think the knobby tire models are good for people who are jogging slow and who have to navigate less-than-flat terrain. The BOB website has a "Stroller finder" so you can match the stroller to your needs. I don't like how the Ironman and SU D'lux have such a wide base with the big wheels, but frankly, it's my turn to mow people over at the Saturday morning 10k races and this should help me in that endeavor.

Oh and Chris keep in mind, when you're done with your double, you'll be able to sell it and get some of your investment back. Clearly these things sell well in the used market.
Hell, if Jeff had his way we'd be buying that double from you next year .
