Not necessarily, it depends on why you are training and doing these things. For triathletes, bricks and separate disciplines are imperative for succeeding.

Thanks, I keep on forgetting about how hard core this forum is, I just thought that it was a double dose of cardio.

It basically is, so unless you are specifically a triathlete, cyclist, or runner, you are just doing more cardio but working SLIGHTLY different muscles. It would be repetitive for someone just looking to get in shape or lose weight.

I want to give that Xterra a try next year. I bought a MTB, albeit a so-so one, for the porpoise of doing one.

No problem, then make Illinois your first one. You will think they poured bottles of Evian into the lake at Fort Custer. None of the races were that bad except IL. I had bunches and bunches of seaweed and leaves and crap collecting on my forehead while I swam.

You took 2nd in your division...good job! If you could match the winners swim pace you might have beat him. His run was faster, but I bet now you are way faster than the pace you set.

Stats? - Fuck if I know - Seeing as with my back, I can no longer run, here is my typical work out:

Eliptical Machine - 45 Mins

- 1st 5 Mins - Zero Resistance to warm up
- At 5 Min Mark, increase resistance level to 2
- At 10 Min Mark - Level 3
- At 20 Min Mark - Level 4
- At 30 Min Mark - level 5
- At 35 Min Mark - Level 7 until until I reach the End of my 45 mins

I have been told that if you can get the heart rate up for 40 mins a shot 3 times a week, you are good

That and I jack off with wrist weights 4 times a day - Shake Weight My Ass

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW, what a RIDE !!"
