Okay, who here is still in on this? Training this year for me has been BRUTAL. I'll be lucky if I can complete this race with less than 4 walking breaks. *sigh*

I gotta check the weather, but if it's supposed to rain I will be running it bandit I guess, because registration will be closed right? Otherwise I will be doing a MTB race.

A tip for you. Don't walk. Slow your average pace so you can keep running the entire time if possible. If you have been running occasionally you should be able to physically handle the run the entire time, just keep your head in the game and pace yourself.

35 min? That's a really good pace, Ken. I've gotten my 5-mile time down to the mid 38s. I'm not trying to drop it anymore, just increasing distance again.

Not sure if I'll do this race, does sound like fun, though.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Registration is closed, so you'd have to run it bandit.

I agree about slowing the pace to keep it running for the full time frame. I'm spending the next 7 days increasing my distance. Thank god for ellipticals, they're saving my sanity.

That goal was in January, when I had more motivation. I would be happy just beating my time last year at this point.

Thanks for the head's up. Good luck, and stay focused. Remember what Lance always says, "Pain is temporary, but failure lasts forever". Mentally focus out the pain and just keep running, it'll be over quickly.

Unofficial results do not count! Your claims of greatness must be accompanied by an online championchip result link.

This is true. Here is another gem for those less than stellar days: "No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping those sitting on the couch". That works for a little bit when you don't care any longer about how long failure lasts.

I failed today. I was right on target all the way to the start of mile 5 and then I decided I was tired and backed it down and complete 5 miles in about 37 something minutes. I lose

I might be doing this bandit, and then doing a swim clinic downtown. Man I'm gonna suck. I haven't run very much the last few months. If I beat my time from last year I'll be surprised. There better be some hotties for motivation.

GPS results would be acceptable for bragging rights online. I plan on setting my Garmin to see my pace and time.

Oh, then in that case, I plan on attaching my Garmin on the ankle of some Kenyan in the A corral.

Then, I'll go get a coffee and come back and greet him at the finish line.

Uh, lack of training messed me up: 55:58.
This was my 2nd worst time in nine years. Oh well, there's always next year!

It was, however, an AWESOME day outside! The babes, the beers and the sunshine more than made up for my pokey speed.

I got bronchitis and strep throat on Friday, so I opted to skip the Shuffle this year. Sucks too, because I'm sure I could have beaten Scoots, which is always fun. He finished in 39 minutes this year. Good job Crash, keep up the training for next year.
