I lack the time to train for this.

Best of luck to those that run it!

And then there's rearranging your sock drawer too. It really is tough squeezing in a half Ironman isn't it?

I said.... My sock drawer was ORGANIZED!!! lol

Yes, my spot has been bought and paid for, for a while now. I trained a base enough to step into a training plan mid plan after my marathon. In the next 3 weeks I need to start extending a long bike into my training. I'm ready to go on the swim and run. The biggest challenge for me will be recovering properly from the marathon. I plan to do a reverse taper the week after the race and then into a 4x per week run plan of 4/6/4/10 miles working on speed and hills with the 6 mile run. I'll maintain the bike for 2-3 weeks after the Mary and then move to 3-4x per week with a lt workout on the trainer/ a long ride and 1-2 recovery rides. Since swimming is basically my recovery these days I'll keep 2-3x per week with one hard swim being masters class. Hopefully, that will get me back to a peak after the mary. I got it worked out yo!!

Damn. You DO have it worked out. Right now my plan consists of either swimming, riding, or running however and whenever I feel like it. Probably not the best plan.

I'm a lot newer at this than you! If I want to do well or even finish without having any problems blowing up or cramping I need to work harder. Maybe someday I'll be as cool as you and be able to scarf down pizza, burritos, and m&m's for a 20 week training plan and rock out a HIM! lol

Hey Sticky, if you are anywhere after the first water station on the run, bring a camera and look for me. I'll be the guy panting and wheezing while walking and swearing at people cheering me on.

MSM didn't have an option for these this year, and I actually like racing in these better, so this is it. I'm gonna get a sleeve tattoo, so I'll look cool.

I prefer the one piece for racing myself. I have a nice desoto one piece. The only other garment I can stand for linger than sprint distance is the desoto tri bib and a tri top.

Thanks Tony

I just knew that, while you guys are all out making big gains, I'm going to be wrecked for a while after the marathon. According to some people marathons are harder to recover from than HIM's. I'm told I won't get a quality workout in for a month after! So I needed to start early.

OMG I can't believe it's time to taper for the race! It couldn't have come soon enough. I'm totally at a wall, as I should be! I barely made it through a 10 mile run yesterday!! I'm sooooo exhausted!! Got nothing left in the tank.

Things are looking good though. I'm right where I need to be. I weighed in at 168lbs completely hydrated and pulled an FTP of 285 watts. Some of my brick runs last week went off at near a 7/min mile for 6 miles after computrainer workouts. No injuries that I know of yet. Only thing that concerns me is I was stupid with my nutrition last week and bonked on one of my workouts. Hopefully, I can recover from that in taper and be ok for the race. From here on out I'm just going to be working out to stay loose.

Good luck to everyone else doing the race!

I'm right where I need to be too. Tired, overtrained, and still hammering. This year won't go as well as I had hoped, mainly from working so much, but it should be better than last year as long as I don't screw up nutrition. I guess we'll see. Sounds like you're ready to rock!

I have nothing planned for the week yet, as I'm feeling tired and wasted already from the heat at work. I'll probably just rest, I feel like I need it. Supposed to be 85 and sunny this weekend, so it will be tough.

Did you swim Ohio the other week? How was the water temp?

Yeah it's going to be hot!

I peaked at 13 hours training for 3 weeks straight, splitting up 6 on the bike 4 running and 3 swimming. Last week I started tapering down to 9 hours. This week I'll still do 5-6 but all things to stay loose. No hard efforts. I purposely went out and waited till mid day to train in the heat and humidity over the last few weeks. I'm hoping that gets me used to it, but when its hot and humid you just need to learn to accept slower paces or you're just going to blow up.

Haven't heard from Hans in a while. I know Ken is ready!....Hans????

Can't look fly without Zipps. Next year I'll look fly.

Yep, last two Saturdays we've been there. It's cold, but great with a wetsuit. I could have gone with a sleeveless one if I wasn't such a puss.

I thought Heesh was doing this too? No X this year either?

We meet at 6am, swim from Ohio street beach to the other shore at North Ave. beach and back, roughly 1.5miles. Then follow up with a run of varying distance and pace. Two weeks ago was 11 miles easy and last weekend was 8 miles at a pretty stiff pace.

Anyone doing it without a wetsuit? I HATE cold water and don't own a suit :P

Still debating the short or long sleeve thing.
