Garmin 110 Data Test n Tune 250GP

I know GP bikes are more demanding then 4Ts.
This it obvious the first time you are on a 2T.

Well, after a year of Ironman training, I know how my body reacts.
Not to mention all the electronic training tools I have.

For Friday test and Tune, I decided to with a HR monitor on with my Garmin.
I was shocked to see, my heart rate is over 170 once I am up to speed.
Much like a Bicycle race.

I am not shocked at all. Racing is an athletic event like anything else, assuming you are trying hard at it. Unless of course you are like Jean Girard or Valentino Rossi sipping macchiatos while racing.

In my first race back in May, I wore my heart rate monitor and noticed the same thing. Right before the race when my heart was racing because I was nervous, my HR was in the 120's. During the race it hit 165. In 25 minutes (5 of it waiting on the grid, warm up lap ,etc) I burned about 300 calories. That's about how much I burn on a 3 mile run.
