Which vacation would you choose?

I am hitting an early season 70.3 Ironman on March 17-18, and there is a Rev3 in Guanacaste Costa Rica and an Ironman in San Juan Puerto Rico. Not sure which to choose for the vacation part of it. I'm leaning to Costa Rica for the outdoorsy part of it, but I want to hear from people who have been to both places and which they prefer and why.

Such problems. I'm choosing between Fresno and Albany for my next business trip. Jus sayin'.

I've never been to either, but Costa Rica is more attractive to me. I get stir-crazy on islands.

My family is going to kill me this year if we don't do a warm vacation somewhere, so I'm working the race into it.

70.3 is just that in mileage, and a 140.6 is the full deal. 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. Full deal is double that.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of passports for the entire family for Cost Rica (unless you already have them). They aren't needed for Puerto Rico.

Costa Rica hands down.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I read vacation in the title, then I read craziness in the first post. Then I glanced at what forum it was in and who started it and it all made sense.

Dude this is a motorcycle forum. Why don't you just post about motorcycles and not anything else, you dumb ass??

Seriously, I looked into both places recently. I think your kids will enjoy CR better, though. Hilton has two all-inclusives near Guanacaste so that would be a great option for the fam.
If you do PR, take the ferry to Vieques for a day or two. The W there is pretty reasonable, too.

Guanacaste hands down. There are resorts at the foot of a volcano. Lots of hot springs, and the worlds longest and tallest zip lines. Beautiful forrest.

Been to San Juan too. It's an old city. Lots of stray cats. Better looking hunnies and better night life.

I'm going to kill X if he does another Ironman and we don't go somewhere awesome to do it, so we're going to New Zealand.

I've only been to Costa Rica, but it's awesome there.

Good stuff peeps. I figured CR was the better choice. Now my buddy has a free condo in Sun Valley for the weekend before to snowboard. WTF. Will I take two weeks off during prime time bike season to screw off? Yeah, probably.

My dad lived in CR for 5 yrs, when I visited it was a blast. Did a zip line canopy tour, 2hr horse back trip- which was a blast, lunch then a 2hr white water raft trip. It was all at some resort in the middle of no where.

The locals are called ticos, don't worry you won't be confused with one, on the downside they seem to have one price for locals and another for outsiders. Not a big deal as its still dirt cheap.

I've been to puerto Rico. Tons of shopping hiking rain forest swimming tours and history there. I'd love to go back.
