Fitness Contest Ideas

One of the guys that works for me are going to have a fiitness contest.

We have certain fitness goals we'd like to attain, and want to see who best attains them in 6 months.

For me, it's getting my cardio back. I used to play hockey 5 times a week in college, then 2 to 3 times a week post college, and now 1 time a week. So, I'm looking to get my cardio back to a good level.

Additionally, I want to build back some leg muscle I've lost from not playing so much hockey.

Both these will help with my ultimate goal of being in good shape for alpine climbing. Additionally, I'd like to get some cut/muscle back. At my peak I was 175lbs and maxed bench at 310lbs. That's the biggest I'd like to be. Truthfully, 165 - 170 cut is my ideal. I'm not far from that...so only a small improvement needed.

He on the other hand, weighs 230lbs and wants to get to 200lbs. Also improve is cardio and generally become more overall fit.

Any ideas on what we could do to make a contest out of this? I'm thinking to find our baseline figures now for cardio and weights, and see the best percentage change. Not sure what to do about the weight loss thing as I'm not losing weight, only him.

Hmmm...I need to give this some thought, but figured CLSB is good for a few ideas.

The only true test of fitness is bicep size. Make sure you grunt a lot when you're curling for best results.

Maybe you should both be blindfolded and dropped in the middle of a jungle. If either of you make it out alive, you're going to be in pretty good shape.

Makes it really easy to declare a winner when one of you lives and the other one is eaten alive or dies of disease or something.

No reason to over-complicate things with math.

It gets complicated because you have different goals. The only way I can think to make a contest out of it is to set a realistic time period for how long it will take each of you to attain your goal. Then whoever attains their goal the soonest relative to their personal time limit wins.
In my experience you will both stay motivated if money is on the line.
