LA Fitness buying Bally's clubs

Not the entire chain, but all the ones in Illinois and a good chunk nationwide:

Wonder what that will mean for those of us with long-time memberships (with low annual renewals)?

I'm with La fitness now, I only pay 29.95 a month. Not sure what Ballys normally charges.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

i only pay $150/year with ballys. considering i only live 5 minutes from the mount prospect location i am a captured audience. if they raise my dues, they better make it a lot nicer.

I pay 20 per month @ Bally's. Have been paying that since the 90's. Not the most fancy place but it is decent, affordable and close to home. Anyone try out zip fitness? That place is only 13 per month or 25 per month if you want unlimited tanning included (pass, will keep my pale ass skin cancer free) the place looks nice and everything is still new.

I joined in 1984, and last renewal cycle I paid about $90/yr on a three-year renewal. My original contract was for $44/yr, with the maximum increase allowed being adjustment for inflation.
