Amped Up Adventure Race, Aurora, May 27th

Saw this as a deal on living social (1 day left!) and decided to sign up. Sounds like a good time and its really close to home for many of us since its right through downtown Aurora. 6 miles of running, 4 miles of biking, 4 miles of kayaking, and a few obstacle courses. The living social deal is $49 and includes race registration and kayak rental. Not bad! If interested check out the link

My kid has a race that day, or I'd do this with you. Sounds very cool.

I dig that its only a few miles from home, a few disciplines and not too long or too short (except for the bike). I need an event for some motivation right now, this looks fun!

That does look fun and I'm tempted to sign up despite the fact that I'm in no shape to complete this

Race completed. Pretty small turnout it seems though, there was only about 15 or 20 people in my wave. The run was the biggest challenge for me, but my pace was ok and I'm satisfied, but hope to do better my next race. I dominated on the bike, taking soccer moms and hybrid-riding old men (hopefully from the previous wave) by storm. A mile run to the kayaks where I also dominated, passing several people while navigating the low spots in the river. Another mile run to the obstacle course which included truck tire flips, sand bag carry, up and over a high wall, and finally a dragons back style balance beam. Crossed the line, slammed a water and some orange wedges and finished it off with a beer. Good times. Heat was a bitch but don't think it really affected me that much, was done by around 11 anyway. Don't know my results yet but it was fun and will definitely do this type of thing again. I think there's another one with same or similar format in rockford later this year.
