It should be fun. I did a 5k this year and it was a blast, too bad I haven't run since. Been cycling a lot but would still like to try and figure out a way to keep running a little.

Jim, I will decide soon which race is for me that day, but the marathon training guide has 14 miles prescribed that day, so I am leaning towards the half marathon. Kind of conflicted knowing how much you will have improved by then, thinking I should just do the 10k and make it more of a fun competitive run.

hopefully we get the run in tomorrow before the rain, storms etc.

no experience with this anything i should do today to prepare for tomorrow? its only a 5k so i doubt it.

This will be a bench mark run for me, and will be used to motivate me from here until the next one LOL

Jim, I can say I don't like running as we do it often at the Cross fit gym, I run as if my legs are lead pipes.....

I'm no expert but I usually don't run today to rest the legs for tomorrow, eat a good meal with some carbs, drink a lot of water, and do some light stretching or yoga if my muscles feel tight for any reason.

For a 5K just make sure you are prehydrated as much as you can be. That's about it. You don't need any calories for this, just make sure whatever is in your stomach isn't going to upset you during the race. That's it. Good luck!

So I competed in my first 5k race today, and running with all those people really changes how you run LOL. my first mile was about 40 seconds faster then my normal pace. it eventually caught up to me but set a bunch of personal best and a bar for future races. cant wait for the next one!

good job Mike, haulin ass out there!

Nice job Jimmy, races are definitely more fun that your typical run. And it is always fun to PR. I totally took is race for granted by sluffing off all week and my heart rate showed it. Either way I am pleased with the times, given that I really didn't think I would be able to pull sub 8 min miles based on what my typically times are. Still sucks that we didn't do this crap over 10 years ago when we much younger.
