Wauconda Triathlon 2013
Second sprint Tri I've done and second Tri period. Placed 10th in age group out of 23 and 60 out of 147 among the males.
Pictures in order of the events. Finished in 1:37:30 so the time has dropped from last one. Need to work on running as that is weak link.
I told my swim coach to just get me out of the water for me to get on the bike, so with that I got 20th overall out of 267 on the bike with a 20.8 avg. Road bike versus TT bikes I'm sure. Now if Ken Krebs showed up I would have been 21st then
Took a hammer gel and three enduralytes to combat cramps it I was to get any and I did not.
The swim I thought went will, but the time does not reflect that at 22 minutes. Granted it was not a .5 mile swim as GPS measured it at .62 but for the most part I swam straight, which is want matters.
Running the 5K was a challenge, I think I maybe pushing to hard on the bike to run a good pace as I had a goal of running sub-9 min miles. Missed that goal by .25 seconds a mile
All is all a fun race and will be back again for another shot at it. I need to step up and do Olympic distances now and see what happens.

If a Facebook friend, there are pictures almost documenting the whole experience from start of swim to ending of run.
Wife and kids showed up to watch my suffering as they did for the LITH's tri as well
Special thanks to Mike Albano (screen name on here escapes me) and the Wife for taking pictures.

Nice job dude. Yeah they get addicting to better yourself, that's for sure. Work on your run. You can make great progress if you run consistently and your finishing position will rise quite a bit.

Yes I have to work on run big time as I watch 4 to 5 people in my age group pass my slow ass on the run.
I can't really be mad about that but it does sting a bit now that I'm thinking about it..

The bike saves me big time. I was in wave 10 of 12 at the swim start and passed people all the way up to wave one. The first three waves are Olympic distance which that will be my next Tri this year if I can get it in. Granted the people in wave one had one mile swim to my .6 but they also started 25 minutes before me.

Oh Jon boy, just checked your transition times, T1 time, did you have problems getting out of the wetsuit? Finding the bike? T2 time, couldn't figure out the left shoe from right shoe? You spent over 5 minutes in the transitions areas!

T1 I dropped my cap and goggles and ran back to get them and it was a good hike to get to the bike. LOL And yes I did run back to get goggles and cap..
T2 I don't know WTF I was doing other than cussing my ass off to get ready to attempt to run..
It could have been worst.
It was a long narrow trans area and I was in the middle on outside close to fence.
Doing Tour of Elk Grove bike race, but if knew I could get done in time to do both I would try it...

I was the third person in age group to put bike on rack and had 6 of them pass me on the run for me to place 10th in age group, that is the part that stings.. It need to pedal faster to pull more of a gap..
