True or False?

On the way in this morning, I heard on the radio, that carbonated drinks destroys muscle tissue Since I gave up alcohol, I have been drinking plenty of carbonated drinks (diet) and I was wondering if anyone knows if this is true or false? Or is it just a myth?

Yep carbonation also attacks bone mass and can cause decalcification of your bones. Also why older people especially women with Osteoperosis are told not to drink carbonated beverages. Not to mention the caffiene will really screw with your metabalism. Stop drinking pop all together even diet and switch to water and you will be amazed at how the weight will come off.

I don't know if it destroys your muscles or not but I do know that aspartame(sp?) does a lot worse than that. A lot of those diet pops use aspartame for sweetener. I had some minor health problems that went away when I stopped drinking diet coke. Of course I'm sure that I drank a lot more back then compared to what you drink now.

I know if I drink coke instead of water I feel like total shit. Bloated and nasty. And yet, like when I smoked, if I see it or taste it I want it and more of it. Are there chemicals in coke that are addictive ya think??????

ever seen the mythbusters show?

they tried all the myths about coke: it will disolve a steak, disolve a tooth, degrease an engine ..... etc.

none of the myths about it's corrosive abilities were true

I stopped drinking soda about two years ago, best thing I've done for my body. Lost about 10 pounds within the first month without any other changes in diet or exercise. Teeth feel better too. I grew up drinking only soda, as I'm sure most people in their late twenties have, so it was a massive change.

What the hell does this have anything to do with the health effects it has? It has been proven by mnay reports and journals that caffiene, carbonation and the many artificial sweetners are horrible for your body.

did I say I thought is was good for you?

No

true, caffiene, and simple carbs are bad for you, but it won't dissolve your teeth or eat a hole in your stomach.

The sugar won't no; but over time the carbonation weakens and breaks up calcium molecules. This is a medical fact I could give a fuck about Myth busters.

well I could give a fuck about Osteoperosis.

I just mix a little milk in with my pepsi

the carbonation does not weaken or break up calcium molecules. Calcium is pulled from the bloodstream to act as an antacid for your stomach. so if you make sure and burp a lot, your stomach won't get upset, and there will be plenty of calcium left to keep your bones happy

Think about it. Soft drinks get carbonated by adding carbon dioxide gas under pressure... what is corbon dioxide? Itís poison, to all living things, except for plants, which use it to make oxygen. Itís a deadly gas that can kill in high doses, but they use it to create the ďfizzĒ in drinks.

I donít drink pop, very rarely.

Carbonated drinks filled with sugar aren't good for you. That much is obvious. Anything that tastes great is usually bad for you. I love DrPepper but ever since February I stopped drinking it as much as I used and I would drink alot of it in a day.

Now I'm lucky to remember to actually drink a can every couple of days. All that sugar was starting to get to me anyway.

Coke is bad and very addictive. But, when snorked off a hooker's ass crack, it can be lots of fun.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

I think we all agree that soft drinks, and coke (in the hooker's ass crack powder form) are bad for you. But you could probably find information that says 90% of stuff that we eat, drink, and breath are harmful in some way. I don't figure I'll live long enough for shit like that to catch up to me anyway.

and besides, I drink about a gallon of pepsi a day, and except for a few VD's, and a lazy eye, I'm as healthy as a f*cking ox!

Just make sure the hooker doesn't have this. It sucks to chase the powder all over the motel room, and it sucks to die of exfartiation...

I'll drink beer any day before I'll touch any soda. In fact, ANYTHING with it's main ingredient as "High Frutose Corn Syrup" is off my list.

Diet pop is a joke too. Your body gets nothing useful out of a can of sugar syrup; I probably drink 1-2 cans a month of that stuff, more as a treat. It should not be in anyone's diet. In fact I believe that crap is a main contributor to the scores of people developing diabetes in this country....

Ok, this is actually about quality of life. While the person may live five years longer. The real issue is that you will live healthy until 60 and then live from 60 to 85 in pain with many health problems. While the person who eats healthy will live healthy to 70 and then live 70 to 90 in less pain and with less health problems.. That is the issue.

I think you're confusing CO2 with Carbon Monoxide, CO, which is a by product of internal combustion engines. It pairs more readily with hemoglobin than O2 and goes nicely with Ozzy Osbourne as well!
