Bicycles

I want to get a new bicycle for fitness purposes. There are plenty of bike trails by my house. I'm not spending $1000 or more on this thing, but want something in the $200-$400 range. Preferably $200, any suggestions?

Ken has an $8million dollar bike that would be perfect!

OR you could just watch the papers for a deal on a Trek or Specialized and be done with it. <$300 shouldn't be a big deal.

No I'm not coming tonight....I'm taking my cheap lazy ass to the gym

I should've stopped by on sunday. I drove right by your house cause we were looking at the models in your neighborhood.

btw......my running days are over which is why I'm looking into a bike. I've had knee problems since I was young that I'd rather not go into in this thread. As far as the cheap part....this is for me to get in shape, not bling bling with friends or whatever. It's simply to get my heart rate up and get some excercise. To me it's not worth spending bank on.

I bought my bike last summer at Mill Race Cycle in Oswego. I spent about $350 and my bike is super nice. They let me test drive as many bikes as I wanted to before I bought anything. We went and ate lunch down the street and my bike was prepped and ready after that.

200 bucks will get you a piece of shit. shoot for 350-400 and you'll get something worth riding. Check out trek, giant, or gary fischer.

Brian I have a Trek 930, that I bought about 10 years ago. We bought a Giant for the oldest boy, for college, great bike, and pretty inexpensive (OTD 300), but it isn't a mountain bike like the 930.

I bought a specialized bike for $400 from village cycle in chicago and I love it. Front suspension, 27 speed and its very light. Plus they give you 4 free tune ups. PM me if you want their phone number.

Brian- I have a GT Karakoram mtb I'd sell for $300. It's a 24 spd w/ LX deore components, rapid fire shifters, core stem, CODA crank and barends, Mavic rims, and an Indy front shock. I have two sets of rims...ones w/ knobbies and ones w/ slicks. It also comes with a computer. I do have toe cages, but they aren't mounted. Instead, I have clipless pedals which I recommend. However, I'd ask $330 for the bike. I just got the clipless pedals and want to put them on a road bike. However, before I buy a road bike, I have to sell my mtb. It's seen about 500 miles of riding. When I moved from Bloomington/Normal, I quit trail riding. I got an extra set of rims to ride on the road last year and gave that up after about 100 miles. I'd just really like to get rid of this bike buy a road bike.

Let me know
