Well, getting surgery....

I'm getting an open right bankart repair and a right coracoid orif done on tuesday. this is a result of my little spill at blackhawk last month. (dislocated my shoulder.)

kind of pissed because i'm starting to get alot of range of motion back and i would have probably been able to make blackhawk this month, but i guess it will be better to get it done now rather than later.

dr goldberg (the orthopedic surgeon, specialized in shoulders and elbows, apparently does about 2 shoulders a week) says if i don't get it fixed, there is a 60% chance it will dislocate again. if i get it fixed, 98% chance it will good as new. as a "bonus" he's going to do the coracoid fracture. i guess they usually don't worry about those, but since mine is displaced and he's doing an open bankart anyway... he says it will only be an extra 15 minutes so might as well fix it. there is also a fragment with no appearent origin, so he's going to check that out too.

anyone ever have any exp with one of these?

Good Luck! Just 1 question. Your Dr didn't just put money down on a new Bemmer did he?

surgery is done. i have 2 pain pump cathed into my body, 1 directly into the joint, the other to the nerve for a nerve block. they gave me ketamine, isn't that "special k"?? that got me wasted. they gave me other stuff too, midazolam i think, i can't remember. but only got 30 vicodin???? WTF i see addicts get tons of norco, oxy, and all kind of other shit and here i am with legitamate source of pain and i get vicodin... i guess that may be because of the pain pumps. they come out friday whrn i see the doc again, maybe they will give me something else then.

i must say that the pain pump is the shit. loaded with mepivacaine. the stuff they infused through the cath for the surgery wore of about 30 minuts after wards, at which point i turned white and almost passed out. then the anesthiesa doc gave me a healthy bolus and hooked me up with the pain pump. it works pretty good, taking away almost all the pain, the vicodin helps the rest.

speaking of which, time for the nest dosage
