looking to buy a tread mill. What to look for? looking to spend 800-1400ish. nordictrack? what other brands?

I have a nordic track and I am on the larger size and works great.

Warrenty and service are great.

Try fitness factory warehouse for more heatlh club quality stuff

None of the above. Before you buy a treadmill, go try it. Believe it or not it's fairly personal. Some have more bounce some less, one has this belt or that. There's a lot of small/could be pita stuff that's involved. How often the belt has to be waxed, top speed, programs, built in fans, etc...My suggestion is to not cheap out on it and to for sure, 100% get an extended warranty. You don't want to deal with a blown motor because you didn't wax the belt enough, so spend the little extra and get some protection. This is a machine which takes a good amount of abuse. Also don't cheap out on the machine since the quality is tied to the prices often. You don't want rails that will come loose on you a few months after putting the thing together.

But more than anything, you want to try it to make sure it matches your running style. There's some super super bouncy ones out there which you may or may not like which really provide support and give a lot of bounce. And others which are very stiff like running on the street.
