Shamrock Shuffle: 3/25/2007

Registration for the Shamrock Shuffle 8k is NOW OPEN! (Edit 2/27/2007: NOW CLOSED)

For you non-metric types, 8 Kilometers is 4.97 Miles.

http://www.shamrockshuffle.com/

This is a fun race, includes a 5k walk for those who aren't runners. Its a total blast, with over 20,000 runners, and its CHIP-TIMED, this means that if you start the race at the Back of the Pack, your 'race' only starts when you cross the start line (which can be up to 20 minutes after the first runners) this way, everyone is timed equally.

Bonus: they serve BEER after the race!

See you there!

Funny question, but I've been training for a 5k, but by 3/27 I think I can pull off the 8k. My question is, do people wear IPOD's for these races or are they restricted? Any other 5k's coming up?

Froze my ass of and got sick tooo many times at this race - It is getting out of hand as well with the amount of runners - I did the New Years Day 5K yesterday and am sick now as well

Enjoy Lads - It seems to be rainy and cold every year and I have learned my lesson with the Shuffle

Bad excuse! You know there are studies that show there is no relation between you body being cold and you actually getting sick. The reason why most people get sick more during cold weather is because we stay indoors more and share germs with others more.

That's exactly right. Get out in the cold and enjoy the cold. You can run and run and not sweat if you are dressed properly.

Chills loves the cold.

It's actually on a Sunday. I'm about to go sign up, btw, and I'm prepared to once again dominate all CLSB competition (with the exception of those of you who are actually athletic).

Oops, thanks for the fix on the date. Sorry, it was New Year's Day and my brain was a bit foggy.... I'm looking forward to seeing a strong CLSB showing this year.

For those who worry about the weather, its not that big of a deal, its a lot LESS crappy than being on a motorcycle doing 70mph on the open highway in a downpour for two hours . . . .

And besides, the beer (and party) is under a tent, so its all good, no matter what mother nature throws us!

Here is a training program I found for an 8k, specifically the Shamrock Shuffle.

http://www.halhigdon.com/8K/8knovsch.htm

My sister used one of this guys programs to run a half marathon and said it was great.

Well riddle me this Batman - Fit as a fiddle, pink as a pistol (Stewie Ref) Monday Morn when I wake up and run - Wake up last night at 2:00 am shivering like a crackhead in the meth clinic with a 102 temp

Same goes for the Shuffle two yrs ago - I don't believe in studies, I believe in what my body tells me and it tells me that if I run in the cold, I get sick

Well it's a good thing that the date is for Sunday. How soon do I have to sign up for this, and how much does it cost? Sorry, but I'm new to this and want to make sure I can get everything handled.

Go to http://www.shamrockshuffle.com and read the details. Its all there. Everything you'd want to know about it, when it starts, how much it costs, etc.

Hope that helps.
