Xsport fitness negotiable?

Are they negotiable when you first sign up for a membership? I'm wondering what the best rate I can get with a new membership. I'm really only interested in the Arlington Heights club on Dundee to play basketball. I have a Bally's membership that's so cheap from back in the day that I will always keep that one so long as Bally's is around, but I'd really like a place to play some basketball and weights at the same place. I know they're not gonna be $90 a year like Bally's is or whatever I pay, but just seeing how much they can give.

I think when I went in there they were offering 16 months for $400. I'll admit though, I like their equipment and the 24/7 is very appealing.

I paid somewhere around $500 for 15 months, and I can use any Xsport. I love the place

Does that membership cover the clubs with the basketball courts? The club I'd be using has a rock climbing wall and basketball court. I don't give a crap about anything mostly but the basketball court for the most part.

That is the xsport I go to. I play ball occasionaly there too. I pay 380 a year. Mind you I got that deal when they first opened. I have heard some people are paying around 500 a year now, but yes they do deal cause I hear about membership prices all over the board at that gym. So far I have the best. Ha Ha

Biggy if you want to go to the Arlington Heights (Dundee Rd) facility you will have to pay a higher price then just the Xsport Gym member ship that NickIF was talking about. Since that place is a spa as well you will be paying the premium price. Although if you don't plan on attending the two downtown chicago xsports there is a little bit of a discount. but again they do negotiate.

Also, is there any startup fee? I don't want to workout a deal and then in the end have them say "Ok, now to just pay that $100 initiation fee and you're set."

Kim and I used to pay $275 each for 15 months at X-sport in Lombard and Darien. We were Powerhouse members at that rate before X-sport took all of them over. We pay $35 a month for BOTH of us at Cardinal Fitness now. Anyway, from what I remember, the X-sport memberships were pretty negotiable. They might even extend you a professional courtesy discount for being a personal trainer.

that covers everything except the ones with spas (naperville, and lakeview I think) maybe more now. Rock walls, pool, basketball courts all included. $348 was the firefighter/police discount but I got it before I got my job you just have to do some haggling. Go to the one off of golf road in arlington heights just east of woodfield and talk to the assistant manager there I believe his name was brian. Cool guy and hooked me up right away.

No startup fee... and it's much easier to deal if you have cash for the entire term of the contract (no payment option). I'm actually thinking of going back to X-sport. Right now I pay $59 a month with a $200 startup at lifetime and that's WITH a firefighter discount. The only thing that's stopping me is the gym is 5 blocks from my work and it's NICE.

My only beef with xsport is when you cancel you have to write them a certified letter. When my membership was up back in november the credit card I used for payment had been closed and I never wrote a letter. I get nasty phone calls all the time for them trying to collect my renewal fee. I tell them I don't want the membership and they tell me to pay to send a certified letter. That's usually when I hang up on them after telling them to send me the postage fee. LOL I'm a cheap bastard I know... I guess I should write that letter adventually.

Signed up at Xsport Arlington Heights. After a few minutes the sales rep couldn't do anything and was telling me it was 528 for 15 months. Manager came over and worked out a better deal for $450 for 15 months then 33 a month after that. Much more reasonable. Heesh thanks for the info but I couldn't use you to sign up because you were on a special promotion when you signed up So I took it but can cancel in 30 days, so we'll see.

Also Nick, yea the cert letter is mandatory however the club can send it out for you if you don't wanna pay to have certified. Careful because they might send you over to collections if they every choose which would be a pain to get on your credit report.

for anyone thinking about signing up to Xsport in the future, they really don't haggle much...they got me on under my buddies name so long as I bring in a piece of mail showing we have the same address. Prices for next year will be going over $600 a year from what I saw in their books too. $528 will get you in for 12 or 15 months (the extra 3 months is a maybe).

Right now I paid $450 for 15 months, so it's like $30 a month right now. In 15 months I go to $33 a month with a month to month contract.

I payed 320$ every 15mo at Niles, in Libertyville it's like 520 every 15, but their facilities are like 500x better.

NESBA - Seems to be missing, can someone direct me where to find it?

Yea if a club has a gym and spa or rock climbing wall then it's more. All I care about is the basketball court which will be an A level membership.

Niles had a wall, and basketball court Tanning, but no spa.

It was just an old facility, their machines are somewhat outdated and all their bars are complete garbage(bent). For the most part. But it was still an OK gym.

Libertyville just opened, and has tv's on all the cardio equipment, spa, bball court, etc, so it's a bit more expensive at like 475 or whatever I pay

Still cheaper then anything decent out here.... Centre Club is at like 1120$/year

Thanks for the info, my GF has been wanting to join and she was told a while back it was $450 a year, but I pay $300 a year since I joined my local xsport when they ran a pre-construction deal. Good thread.

The pre-construction I believe is a single club only.
