Started at a health club

I got off my lazy ass and started a health cub with Stace. We're stating twice a week and when things calm down we'll go 3 times a week. So any advice? We go after work, so is it ok to eat after or should we eat before and wait a while to work out?
Thanks

eating after is fine. before is fine too, though you'll find you dont want to eat right before you workout.

If you are lifting weights-which I highly recommend-make sure you eat something within 45 minutes after your workout. Your muscles are most responsive during this time and need to be fed. If you are really serious about this go to a book store and get the book, "Winning By Losing" written by Jillian Michaels. She is the kick ass trainer on the TV show, The Biggest Loser. I have been working out for many years but it was after reading her book and following her advice I took off 50 pounds. This book is a great resource. Good luck and don't give up. Count the calories you are taking in so you have an idea of what you are consuming.

If you are going to go twice a week try splitting the workout into upper and lower body. Peform your weight workout first and then do cardio after start out with maybe 20 minutes of cardio following 45-60 minutes of weights. Up your cardio to 30-40 minutes over time and stick to running and biking. If running hurts any joints biking is a great way to go until the weight drops off.

Eventually try to bump up to 4 times per week that allows you to break up body parts to hit them harder and with more detail. I go Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday off, then Thursday and Friday.

Good sight to visit and not just for meatheads is www.bodybuilding.com

It has tons of useful articles, supplements, and other tools to help you out. I used to be the bodybuilding/meathead type in college then moved to the triathlete afterwards and now moving back towards the bodybuilding/meathead workouts as I got tired of shrinking down in size.

Good luck. Stay consistent that is key.

Also, make sure you are having fun. If you get bored with a workout then you'll lose your motivation to go to the gym. Do different workouts and try new things. Also, get outside to do some cardio.

Glad to see you getting healthier.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I don't know jack, but i basically have the same routine (work, lift, cardio, but no eating). I drink a Monster pre-work out, and gatorade afterwards. Been doing this for a month and already lost about 15lbs, which is good, but my diet BLOWS!
