CLSB wish list

Ok guys, you make the site what it is today, I only provide the code. I have always been of the mindset of keep it simple, as too much shit makes the site cluttered. But, are there any features that you guys feel are missing and are must haves, or anything you think could be done differently that would be more functional for the end user?

One of the better sites/forums. The speed has gotten much better recently.

My only gripe is I don't know if you have control over the minimum 4 letter search feature, but sometimes thread titles only have 3 letters... that can be a PITA.

No problem. I know other forums I go to with the same format/layout have the same minimum, it just might be that way.

I think you can use * to fill out the rest of the 4 character minimum and it will work for searches as a wildcard.

Correct. I just found out why it's set like that, it's a performance issue, if you run a search with a word that small, it searchs through every 1 or 2 letter word on the site. having it at 4 eliminates A, AND, the, etc from the searches. Using the wild card will help you in this respect.

I'd like to see more Ferns, Throw Pillows and Vertical Blinds and upgrade your track lighting Don Johnson and maybe lose the Nagel that was cool in 1985?

Other than that, more pastel colors and less earth tones Mr Banana Republic of 1984

The one forum I go to gives the user a choice of background colors. That would be cool I guess.

I love the site, the only thing that would be great for me if you had that you don;t already have are the following things

- Ability to PM 10 instead of 5
- Ability to set up a PM Group, ie, the Dirt Group.. the guys a user goes MXing with, or Poker Group, the guys that a user plays poker with
- Ability to set a flag on a thread to IGNORE thread so that it doesn't show up in new posts query for the logged in user
- Ability to set a flag on a forum to IGNORE a specific forum so that it doesn't show in New Posts query for the logged in user

Logic: Some threads or forums are things that certain folks may never care about and it just clutters the screen and keeps them from getting to the posts that they can participate in faster. Also - if you had that IGNORE Forum feature, you may want to ping the User once in a while to see if they still want to ignore that forum. IE, maybe they bought a gun and now want to see that forum, whereas in the past, they didn't have anything to add or contribute to that forum.

Just my .02. I LOVE this site as you and Ken both know.

Here are two suggestions:

1. create new rep categories. I worked damn hard to walk on water and now it seems like EVERYONE walks on water. That's not fair to the real special people.

2. Neutral rep. For commenting on posts-- nothing gained, nothing lost.

What about creating a "post social gatherings" forum so the after reports on rides and parties can be separated?? How about some more perverted smilies???

Rick- great idea for the name tags... it will be nice to know who some people are so we can run away from them if need be.

Life's Journey Is Not To Arrive At The Grave Safely In A Well Preserved Body, But Rather To Skid In Sideways, Totally Worn Out, Shouting "HOLY SHIT... What A Ride!"

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never under estimate your opponent (mentality). Expect the unexpected (could work out in your favor). Two, take it outside(or to a table). Never start anything inside the Bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.
