I know I'm over in the west burbs too. You and I could sort this whole thing out over a bottle of wine and some chloroform if your interested.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

It's a hosting provider problem, not an end-user problem.

Clear out your history, cookies, etc (clear private data) and then close firefox without saving the tabs you have open. Basically reset your firefox and it should take care of the problem.

Who says Arch is right though?

I got the same problem she did, cleared the history, restarted the program and it fixed the problem for me.

EDIT: I'm a corporate network too if that makes any difference.

Causation and coincidence are often confused here.

At the very moment you are trying to do the httpd request, the server is overloaded. Let some time pass... Clear all that BS listed, or take a dump, get a cup of coffee, and retry it... Voilla... at that next exact moment, the server isn't overloaded.

I get it here and there as well.

I believe it's an intermittent hosting issue as well..

That's my thinking too.
i was just surprised that no one posted about it before, and I get it only from work.

If it was client side, I think that no threads would show up.

Instead, the problem is mostly that it can't execute the last post query. if I'm on the first page of the thread, and hit reply, i can at least read the posts underneath the reply window.

It's been mentioned off and on, but they are so intermittent that by the time anyone looks into it, the congestion is usually cleared up.

I think there may also be some weird obscure DNS and/or load balancing issues too with the hosting provider that adds to the problem when it happens. Again, they are infrequent enough and usually not long lasting that all you ever get is a 'peek' at them and no real time to poke around and diagnose properly.

sure, a lot of people help a chick member.

Had the same problem 2-3 weeks ago. You can see it in the administration section. Some sites would go to the 503 error. It lasted about 3 days for me and went away. I have comcast and not internet connected to a fiero server.
