Ride share - 4/24 Road America

Anyone have an open trailer spot they want to share with me? I'm only doing Saturday, but i'm flexible. I don't mind staying and hanging out on Sunday. If it matters, I have ratchet straps for my bike.

I know it's still a while off, but I like to plan things early

edit - I switched to Sunday, but I can still go up there Friday or Saturday

OR... If you trust me enough to let me borrow your trailer, that works for me too.

Pat, Im up in Rosendale...... about 35 miles from Road America. If you guys are coming up the night before, I've got room for you to crash and a full garage for any work that needs to be done.

Thanks for the offer Chris, depending on my ride situation, I may take you up on that offer.

Keep me posted. I may need to car pool, or may be able to hook you up with someone. I just don't know how I'm getting there yet. I may have room to take you or a trailer you can borrow. I just won't know till we get closer.

I'll update this thread if anything happens. If I can't find anything by this Friday, I'm probably going to cancel.

That is not acceptable.

You can ride with me. Worse case, you can use my trailer. Does that help you confirm your plans? I'll be going for both days. So you'd have to stay and hang out for Sunday or tag along for a ride home Saturday. Otherwise you could just drive up on your own.

Whichever works best.

That confrims it, you the man I'd prefer to to ride up with someone to save on gas money. But if that doesn't work, I should be able to borrow my sister's SUV. Only problem, it has to be an open trailer. My sister's electrical connector isn't hooked up right, so the lights won't work. Do you know what size ball mount I would need for your trailer? I have a 1 7/8" but I have no problem getting another if need be. I actually wanted to stay Sunday and watch. Never been to Road America so it will be nice to check out the scenery.

Get electrical connector fixed FIRST!That's just asking for an accident or trouble from the police

I'm hoping I don't need to drive, but I'll do what I have to do to get there

Fixing the connector is biting off more than I can chew. I don't know who installed the connector, but there is no power. All the wires seem to be hooked up right at the back end, but where they should be connected at the fuse box, there isn't even a fuse holder. Just an empty slot. It never gets used, so she won't fix it. And she's not to into the idea of me tearing apart her electrical system. Rock and a hard place...

Well I know me personally I wouldn't let you use my trailer unless problem is fixed. I don't need someone hitting it because of electrical failure.

Something you might want to think about before using someone else trailer.

Just a thought

I agree, that's why I threw it out there. Along with that, I know the responsibility is on myself. Both reasons for me prefering to find an open spot on someone else's trailer

We'll figure it out. Ironically, my truck wiring harness is bad as well. I had to use a wire and alligator clips for my tail lights to come home from BHF.

It is a sturdy open trailer.

If you need to hook up wiring for trailer lights, go by any u-haul rental store and let them know the vehicle you're towing with. They can probably find a T-1 connector that will plug right into the factory harness.

See if they make one: (quick google search)

Johnsburg is kind of a haul. I'll keep it in mind, but I'm hoping Greg can put something together. Riding up there is definitely not something I'm interested in.

Greg have we worked out all the details yet? Is the plan to go Friday night? I hope so cause getting up and getting to the track with minutes to spare is not ideal, being all sleep deprived and stuff.

I was talking to Brian (bfly) and he said I might have to drive myself. I have no problem dropping the bike off sometime during the week and driving myself up. I would also prefer to go up Friday, I get off work at 3:30 and can be ready to leave anytime after that.
