Changes to NESBA Membership

just saw this on the NESBA page..... ... you guys are slacking I would have expected that to be posted a day ago...

Quote:
NESBA is proud to announce that we have enhanced our membership offerings for 2011. NESBA members now will be able to choose between the “friendly to the pocketbook” Basic Membership or the “die hard track junkie” Elite Membership.

The Basic Membership is now ONLY $25! This new low price gives NESBA members an ultra affordable membership option that still packs some serious punch when it comes to perks. Members will receive the following with their NESBA Basic Membership: Crash and mechanical insurance, Free gate entrance into all events, Multi day discounts, generous package discounts, Membership rewards program, First class coaching, Free beginners orientation, Prime riding times, and top notch sponsor and dealer discount programs members can use to save big money on purchases.

Please see the newly revised riders manual for more information on the Basic Membership. (Will be available soon)

The Elite Membership is priced at $200 and provides Elite Members with all the perks of the Basic Membership along with the following valuable additions: No late fees for registration which allows for event registration at anytime paying only the standard event fee, so long as space is available, Flexible event cancellation which provides Elite Members the ability to cancel as late as the morning of the event and still be issued a full credit minus a $5 processing fee, Event cancellation insurance which permits Elite Members to receive a credit for 100% of a cancelled event, which they can use to schedule another NESBA event at a later date. In addition to these great benefits, Elite Members will also receive an Elite Member ID card, Elite Member T-shirt, and NESBA Elite Member Stickers. Members can also qualify for a FREE Elite Membership by attending 12 or more events in a calendar year.

Please see the newly revised NESBA riders manual for more information on the Elite Membership. (Will be available soon)

NESBA’s goal is to provide affordable trackdays for our members and the Basic Membership hits the ball out of the park when it comes to inexpensive membership fees. NESBA also strives to give members as many options as possible and with the options packed into the Elite Membership you really can’t go wrong if NESBA is your preferred organization to ride with.

NESBA wants to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to a fantastic 2011 season. See you at the track!

How so?

Elite membership used to be earned by doing a certain number of event the previous year. Now it's available to everyone! Sounds like a great idea to me.

Especially if you have the type of job where you can't schedule events well in advance. If you work in an industry where you might get called into work last minute etc.

Yep- at least you have the option to qualify(pay) for those benefits now. Cancel last minute with other orgs and you are S.O.L.

If you bought a Nesba membership late in the year...

From one of the Nesba Directors (DJ)

"You bought a membership late in the year? We will extend your new basic membership,6-12 months, pending your end date. Send email to [email protected] to handle your particular case.

If you paid $75 for a membership last year? You can upgrade to Elite for $125. It doesn't matter if have 300 or 1 day remain on old membership. Again, email [email protected] and we will take care of it.

I also have offers for current 3 year members and Lifetime members.

Old Lifetime members @ $500 = 3 years of Elite starting now.

Multi-Year (3) Have a few options of Elite or more years at Basic (your choice -pending remaining time)

Offers end March 1st - SO ACT NOW - Operator is standing by....."

When I read keggers initial post I thought basic was the obvious choice. Now I'm thinking elite just so I have the option to cancel for rain

I thought the same thing, but I would have to do a LOT of days for that to be worth it. I'm gonna pay the 25 and pay the late fee just like last year.

I dont understand your thinking, but maybe Im totally wrong on this:

You were paying $75 a year and enjoying certain benefits and you were alright with paying that $75 each year.

There were certain benefits afforded to high volume customers that you could never even attempt to have unless you did 12+ events a year.

Now, basically for $125 more a year you can benefit from those same benefits.

All it takes is 1 last minute cancellation to recoup your $125 that you would have lost under the old system.

The "Elite" membership sounds like some relatively cheap insurance to me. I could care less about some stickers and a T-shirt.

Hummmm... I'll think about it, but it sounds pike I'll pay the 125 and upgrade for this year.
Otherwise ill see if I can use the fee for this year I already paid (75$) and stretch it to 2 to 3 years of basic.

Any one know if they are getting rid of the non member option for track days? Doesn't matter to me but that was a cool option for people last year. I am guessing now it won't be an option since a basic membership is only $25.

Yeah, you're totally wrong. I won't ever cancel a TD, but I do wait last minute for weather. So basically I would have to do 13 days and wait till last minute for the elite membership to be worth it to "me". It's not, so I'll happily pay the 20 dollar late fee. I'm not too worried about the other perks, although they are nice. I'll just continue to sell take off's to offset my cost.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking this, I think it is a good deal, and I'm very happy nesba has brought membership down to stt's rate, now noone can bitch about nesba, and we can focus on stt to knock off their $5 dollar gate charge

Gotcha!

For YOUR particular situation, that makes sense. I dont wanna ride in the rain, and my work schedule gets unpredictable at times, so my chances for an unexpected cancellation may be higher than yours, so for me it makes sense.

If you absolutely cancel you can always sell your day to someone else no ? (Within a reasonable timeframe). I personally think this is an awesome move ! Maybe NESBA should offer a $100 option which would give the same benefits of the $25 membership plus entitle you to a 50% refund for cancellation (just a thought though). Still too bad we only get BHF and RA in the central

If NESBA adopts this ($100 option) you all heard/saw it here first and I want a job as a NESBA staff member with significant track discounts. LoL

trust me... once you have the option to sign up for dates last minute or cancel at any time, you will really, really appreciate the extra freedom. also, if anything happens like last year's rain out at road A, you would have made the entire membership fee back.

i can assure you it's a great option for anyone that plans to do more than just a couple trackdays.

This is a really good idea for the customers and a great way to build a financial cushion as a business. But on the business side this might sting them later depending on the amount of riders short to break even at operational cost of a track day multiple times.

But hey it's the interest and just throwing out my 2 cents.

Good luck Nesba.

Like I said earlier, its like insurance. They may get bit with high exposure, or they may come out ahead - I would think someone, possibly a probability expert, has run the numbers, and thats how they arrived at the $200 figure.

Either way, from a members point of view its a "nice" option to have, and its voluntary so if you dont want the insurance, you dont pay for it.

Eek. When I wrote my comment about rain I was referring to me canceling for rain. I didn't realize they completely removed the part about NESBA cancelling the event due to rain now making it so the basic members don't get back squat, only the elite members.
