Wow...that took way too long. (A bump)

So after several years of trackdays I've finally made it to the oasis. The mirage is no longer, sort of. Even with all the bad things that went down this weekend with the rain and crashing, I'm happy to say I had a nice surprise at the end of Monday. That's right, I got my A bump! Woot!

It's been what seems like a long journey. Even this weekend looked bleak. My bike crapped out on me Saturday after the first session, but my good buddy, Nick, was able to pick me up and let me ride his bike the whole weekend. That's right, I got bumped on someone else's bike. It took me some getting used to seeing as it's throttle is a bit quicker, and by a bit, I mean a ton especially compared to my GSXR throttle. The brakes actually worked and weren't all mushy and the shifter was way too high for me but in the end we got it worked out. Nick's new suspension didn't hurt either...how much does that cost for a GSXR anyway? (My wife is going to kill me).

I still remember my first TD like it was yesterday...(que the harp or wayne's world doddle la doot). I actually won the free day to BHF from this very board. Wink loaded that beast up and we headed out. I remember thinking, I'm going to tear this bitch up. I've been riding long enough, this should be a piece of cake. Well, not in so many words, but you get the point. Anyhow, it wasn't. After the first two sessions I hated it. I was parking the shit out of the bike and I was getting passed and basically I felt violated. But then the rest of the day progressed and Mr Salesman himself, Blume, gave me a pep talk and I decided to stay the next day. Everyone was so damn nice. I had a place to stay and food to eat and Greg might have even given me some of his strawberry daiquiri.

After all was said and done, I loaded up, my then street bike, from Wink's and headed back to the city. I waved goodbye to my new friends, threw a knee out and railed down the entrance ramp. I was fucking hooked! Next weekend at MAM I was bumped to 'I' by Chris Fry and there I sat for 3 years. (Note that one of those years I lost due to "employment" issues.) So in the end, Jordan towed me around most of Monday and it all culminated in the last two sessions. I walked up to say goodbye and he shook my hand and said welcome to A. Thanks man! Those sessions were awesome. A lot of love to everyone that has helped me over the years (days/months) including Wink, Blume, Nolan, Greg, Nick, Nate, Hix, Jordan and many others others.

But alas, yesterday came and went and now I'm a new man, at least until I have my first 'A' session and feel just as violated as my first day. I'll bring the lube but please...be gentle. Love you guys!

Excellent! I know what you mean about being "violated" all over again!

Congrats. I remember your first day as well. We knew you were hooked after that first outing. Nothing good, comes easy. There's still lots to learn and plenty of room to grow.

Congratulations!
I wish that was the case. I actually only got two sessions the entire weekend on my bike. Thankfully Nick came through and let me ride his. Pics to prove it.

Fan freakin' TASTIC!!!

Congrats Lars! I saw the post on FaceBook and loved the sticker photo, and Greg told me a bout your bump last night when he was over. I SPECIFICALLY remember watching you get on the ramp at night on 59 to 90 that Sunday night after your first weekend. Greg and I watched you launch into the on ramp and the... THROW YOUR KNEE OUT and drop your head, we both laughed and said it out loud... "HE'S HOOKED!"

Anyhow, glad to hear that you are out there riding that well. Keep it smooth, and hold your line, actually, you will soon get to the point where you will not feel "violated" when someone flies by in "A", but rather you'll think to yourself, "Wow" and watch and learn at how smooth that rider you are admiring is. The more you see that, the easier it will be to just let your pace and comfort level pick up gradually.

Have a blast out there, and welcome to the shark tank!
