NESBA Midwest CLOSED for 2012

NESBA Mid-West Member,

After heavy consideration, NESBA has announced that it will be suspending operations in the Midwest region for the 2012 track season. There are several factors that lead to this outcome: less than ideal attendance at Midwest track events, unfortunate cancellations due to weather the prior season, and further difficulty negotiating the terms of track rental and securing reasonable dates for this region.

NESBA recognizes this will come as a major disappointment to many of its members, especially those most affected. It must be stated that NESBA did not arrive at this decision easily. It just did not make sense to us to continue to operate with 1-2 events per facility, i felt it wouldn’t serve our valued member base affectively.

As we enter the 2012 season, NESBA will continue to solidify the track event schedule in all of its regions and adding new events that make sense for the organization and its members at every opportunity.

We are hopeful that the future will afford us the opportunity to be blessed with a Mid-West schedule.

Respectfully,

Bob Blandford
President

Very sad, gonna miss it a lot. I learned a lot from NESBA and it's crew, I honestly believe some of the skills I learned literally saved my life once when I found myself in a real tight situation commuting home from work. I'll be forever grateful, and I'll miss it deeply, but you better believe you can still find me at the track, and orange shirt or not, I'll be glad to ride with you fellow nesbians

Big suck!
I was planning to do some NESBA days this year.
Hopefully this is only temporary.

Hey Tom, Brian,

It sure does. It always felt like home with NESBA. I hope they don't fade away for long over here in the Midwest.

I don't get the arrogance comments or the NESBA hate in general. It seems like the people who make the negative comments didn't like having to start in the beginner group like everyone else. Is there some other reason, or is that it?

Well I am sorry your experience with NESBA was negative. I on the other hand had a very good experience. I have learned a lot from the NESBA CR's and have been able to make the necessary improvements to get the associated bumps. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to ride with NESBA these past two summers before they bailed out of the midwest.

I only have two seasons of track riding under my belt. I still haven't recovered from the initial cost of entry. No way can I start a new hobby now. Give me a couple more years and I will be out in the dirt.

P.S. the "initial" cost just seems to keep going. I bought a new bike for track duty at the end of last season and my wife would really like a trailer with AC. It never ends.

Crazyiness!!!

Too bad to hear. I'm not tracking this season, but still disappointed/sad that they closed down (for now). It's a great organization and I always had a great time.

Sucks to hear, I only rode with NESBA a handful of times but it was nice to have several org's that covered many different tracks. Hopefully they will be back.
