Putnam 6/13 Report

Crashing sux! The End.

Seriously though, what a great day for riding. Nice breeze, sun peaking out just often enough to remind the rain to stay away. The track was in great shape and there weren't but a handful of riders in intermediate and advanced. The pits were way less crowded than Saturday (not that there was a lack of room Saturday). Was having a great day and got some fast laps before I went boom. Was outta there by 1 PM or so to go assess the damages. Hope the rain held off for the rest of you guys.

WooHoo - that was fun.

Somehow we managed to get by without it raining until about 3:00PM - but then it just poured !!!!!

No major injuries - actually not very many crashes at all. Putnam is so wide open - that it you mess up, you can just run it straight out into the grass (except for T10 - see above).

Very small crowd - at one point I was riding with 3 CRs at the same time. I felt like I was getting a presidential escort or something

Anyway, I think there are a few more stories to tell. I'm sure people will post up when they get a chance.

Glad you are OK 12RPilot - Remember to make amental note "Do... Not... Follow... Alan"

About 3:00 I remember asking my girlfriend.. is that rain I hear (on the top of the easy-up) about 5 minutes later it started pouring buckets... by the time I got the bike loaded up I was standing in about an inch of water. aside from that what a nice day.

Oh...that sux! On the brighter side, now you can paint it a notsofugly color. Did you hear that Chills?

Seriously, I feel your pain. Spent the better part of today sourcing parts and a helmet.

Next time I'm gonna make a more concerted effort to find out who all is coming and be more sociable. My problem is I'm old and can barely move after a few sessions, let alone socialize!!

12R - Bike doesn't really look all that bad !!

Trick is to try & get everyone ot pit right next to each other - so that you don't have to move around alot in the heat.

I'm the same way. Doesn't help that I'm a bit shy by nature. Finally managed to introduce myself to a few people this past weeked. Didn't manage to connect Chris == TheGrouch, but we met anyway

BTW, Chris, you might wanna send that helmet into Arai to be inspected - it might still be OK. Then at least you'd have a back up. I have a lid around that I need to do that with, I can dig up the address if you want it.

danch,

While I appreciate the suggestion, that helmet is at the 5 year limit for reliable use. Combine that with some pavement pounding and I'm not interested in putting my brain back inside it. It will get put up on the shelf, still in its muddy glory, to remind me that being stupid hurts!

Shiny new Haga rep on it's way. Gotta look good you know!

Ah, that's right, I'd forgotten it was a little old as well. Knew there was some reason I didn't suggest it right there...

My helmet is signed by Tommy Hayden and Eric Bostrom. I thought it would make me fast but no luck! Guess it's time for new. Hmmm.....who can I get to sign the next one?

Yep, I'm bringing up the rear in "I" now. Seems like yesterday that I was scared to grid up at the front of the "fast" lane of "B".

(I hope this works-had to do a quick install of some software)

This isn't a very exciting pic, but it'll have to do until I get my order in to Jack. (It's still nice to look at!)

Great job Carol in bumping up to I....and thanks again for the awesome breakfast burritos.

That pic of Jim and I in the monsoon is hilarious.

Thanks Ernie! I'm looking forward to being the lap timer. You know: I lapped her 3 times that session...

Better remember your seat from now on!

Kruz - I really wish I had been faster getting the camera out. Looked like you guys nearly got carried off by the canopy.

You handled it very well by coming over and grovelling for awhile. Seriously, no problem - you're a good rider with a good attitude. Besides, I got you back with crystal clear directions to Mama Nunz's!

PS-JimGoFast in tights - indeed a sight to behold!
