Putnam track record

Here is a clip from the Putnam website:

"Periodically, the Putnam Park Page will feature a different pro's view of the road course and their fast way around the track. The first entry comes from Team Suzuki Endurance Team's Tray Batey. Tray's perspective was chosen in part because Tray Batey holds the motorcycle lap record of 1:12.90, set July 9, 1995. Putnam Park hosts 7 motorcycle races each year."

I'm amazed that the track record has held for so long. I heard someone say that the record for bikes is now 1:07.xx. Maybe they just haven't changed the website?

Bikes circulate that track regularly in the 12's now. Alan and I were getting down in that range at the last NESBA weekend and I know Dustin and several other riders that have run 12's there - and without speaking for Alan or Dustin, I know that I am not a REAL "fast guy". I would bet that some of the REAL "fast guys" could do 8's, maybe 7's there now. Perhaps when one of them shows up for a NESBA day this year, we will see.

Motorcycles don't race there any more is why that record still stands, no "official" lap times are recorded without transponders that come with a race weekend.

Junge was 1:09 flat in '03 the last time WERA was there.

That's the last "official" Putnam lap record I've heard of.
