Talking Thanks Odysseys & NESBA

For my trackday on Sunday at BHF.

It was unbelievable. Now I understand how track days are addicting. I am surely hooked up

My tires are nicely worn, and my knee pucks are 40% worn

The first 9-10 riders in the beginners group were fast, as fast in the turns as the intermediate group, I must say.

Too bad I caught the track thing late in the season. Next season, I'm surely try to do lots of them

That's cool you had a good time. Its addicting, isn't it?

Your kneepucks are 40% worn after one trackday? Ya might want to not press them into the track surface when turning. Just use them to gauge how far your leaning, or else you'll be buying a new set every 2 trackdays.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

It's part of my learning curve.

I should have saved my body from Saturday's ride. I was very beat up on Sunday, which kept me from doing the afternoon sessions.

And thanks to v2neal, nismoo (for the lawn chair) and jrsmail.

Ken, is this the "POST: NESBA BHF 9/4-9/5" thread? Figured you would have renamed it by now.

Anyway...God damn is riding both days hard. Add to that a Saturday crash exiting T3 and I feel like I've gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. I was very grateful my buddy Allen Hoover had some spares with him because Sunday I was able get full confidence back...though my times were still 2.5 seconds off from being dog-ass tired.

To all: There's at least one bump exiting T3 and if you get too aggressive with the throttle, the rear will slide a foot while leaned over. If it catches, you'll be pointed off track. The key here is to stay calm and REMEMBER THE REAR BRAKE WHEN YOU HIT THE GRASS!!!!

I was still cranking the front brake in panic mode and the bike immediately flopped on it's right side. Much better than the highside that could have been, but entirely preventable when one realizes the potential that bump presents.

Bottom line: Riding both days is cool, but I need to be in better shape...my hands have more blisters than PeeWee Herman in a NY smut theater!

Oh, and for those of you wondering if Butch is just one of those, "my kid is the best" kind of feel good parents, his son, Chris, is one fast bastard! Thanks to you guys for all the encouragement during the Sat. night rebuild. Genuinely good people.

Chris

Steve, one of the control riders told Chris that I was going to follow him on Saturday. So Chris asked if I was going to follow him this next session and I told him I didn't feel like throwing my bike nor myself into the weeds trying.

Nice bust Tom

I'll also add that going to a CLSB day is great prep for a NESBA day, as Ken runs it very similar to NESBA.
Thank you and nice job
