POST: Putnam 10/16 & 10/17

What a great time.. This was my first time at Putnam on Sunday.. Tires took almost 5 laps to get warm with the 37 degree temps that were during the first session.. as for my lap times.. i don't have anything to put them up against, but my best of the day was 1:26, with a ton of 1:27's.. i slowed down alot after my Motocross event in Turn 7 were i ended up about 200 feet off the track.. All the pictures i took from the day sucked.. except for this one.. its for my buddy Rev... Remember Fabio.. they will not bump you if you crash

Just one session before I was going to get bumped to I, I lowsided my bike in T7, I target fixated on the CR, came in too hot, rear tire slid ... tumbled across the grass, broke nothing on me thankfully

Right fairing is broken, the frame slider snapped. My right knee took most of the hit throught the pavement, so most of the rash on the bike's bodywork is due to the grass.

I'm OK though

I had a good day prior to that though, I was running 1.27s - 1.30s

Agreed. Putnam is a blast. Love the T3 to T4 transition, and the carrousel going uphill is great

Yeah, the morning sessions sucked because of the 40ish temps, warming up the left side of the tire was kinda hard, but it got great on the afternoon.

Great weekend, despite the chilly temps. Even camping in a tent wasn't real bad. Cloverdale RV Park has a good windbreak, so as long as you bring lots of blankets you're fine.

T4 claimed at least 6 bikes over both days. Lots of guys with new tires got caught out.

Got back to my previous best times (1:24.4)...no real progress, but some valuable experience dealing with the cold.

Oh, anyone know who the guy with the helmet cam in "I" is (White AGV/GSXR1K)? Wanted to see if he got some footage of me.

Good time Saturday, I played around alot with sliding the ass end out on the exits and entrances of corners. First 2 laps in every session was slicker than snot. I could feal the bike 2 wheel drifting when I pushed it. You have to push it though to warm your tires up. GOD, I can't even imagine trying to ride a liter bike on a cold day like that. Way TOO much horespower. The little SV did just fine. Wheelies were plentiful

Yes, Putnam is nice. 1st time down there and I already like it alot! 1st few laps of every session were very slippery, especially in the morning. Good experience getting used to pushing the front, back or both under cold conditions. Not what one hopes for, but helpful nonetheless. Can't imagine what the guys on litre bikes with street tires were dealing with and I can't wait to get back there when it's warm out!

Good times and good to see CLSB peeps out in quantity! Thanks for the help loading & unloading guys!

Brian & Dave, glad we got to hook up for dinner!

Nice way to wrap up my first season on the track!

Yeah, both nights. Take a left and go past the office to the back, there's some open grass. There both nights...never saw you.

I got to my hotel on Friday night at 1:00AM, after leaving work at 3:00PM. We had some real hassles getting a borrowed trailer to hook up to my car, which delayed us for two hours.

Saturday morning was like riding on Jello. It was very chilly, with a high of 50 degrees and near total cloud cover. The track was very slippery all day. It was indeed hard to ride an open class. I wore a parka between sessions.

Sunday was great! A high of 60+, and sunny all day, just beautiful. My friend and I took turns trading best lap times. I got a 1:25 and he outdid me with a 1:24.

I got back to Appleton at 2:00AM last night, and now I'm back at work. It sure was worth it though.

Yes, Putnam to Appleton, with a trailer change inbetween. I took my bike on my single bike trailer to Brookfield, unloaded it, hooked up my friends two bike trailer to my car, then we loaded it with two bikes, and drove to Putman. I did the reverse on the way back, after two days of track riding.

I'm a little tired right about now... but I have some great memories.

Way to get off the seat, Rev! Pic #398736 going up the hill on the curve is beautiful! Sounds like your low side was nothing but an inconvenience. Sounds like you and the bike came out of it smellin like roses.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Nice meeting Rev and Mopar for Sundays ride. I couldn't believe how little damage on Revs bike. I was just a little behind him when he went down and he did a couple of nice rolls. Glad the bike and you made it out relatively unscathed.
