As I was leaving Sun, the last advance session was out. I watched the #41 AMA pro guy Matt XXXX for a few laps. The gate tender came out waving and pointin the black at him for a second I thought it was gonna be a flyin tackle!! Any one know what the scoop is? Inquiring minds and all. Or just nosey I guess....

Rumor has it there may, or may not, have been some "bending of the rules" on occasion yesterday by said rider. Which may, or may not, have been really entertaining from a spectators point of view!

Black flag is used for some safety concern. Assuming his bike wasn't shooting oil/smoke/flames out of it, he probably was doing some AMA style passes that were a bit too rough for a track day. Or he decided to cross the blend line and needed to be reminded that isn't allowed.

I know. IMO he was riding like an ass. To damn dangerous to be going banzai on a track day with non-racers even if they are in the advanced group. He stuffed a guy in 3A when I was there taking pics. He was on the edge of out of control coming into 3a, back end sliding all over, nearly high sided and came close to running off the track. Couple of teh cornerworkers timed him at around 1:10 at times.

BTW I got a few good ones of you Ken and Ytrap. Apparently I missed Jim as I cant find his bike in the pics. Also where were you guys in the last 2 sessions? I also could of had a great action shot from 3a when 2 guys went down in advanced. Damn tree got in the way.

His name is Matt Furtek. He is pretty quick and well lets just say a little on the cocky side. I know he has been known to be a bit "agressive" on the track. He raced last year with Vesrah Suzuki in WERA and the year before that he was racing some AMA stuff. He has been known to get the officials atention now and again.

Yup. . . he's a very quick kid. Way too far on the cocky side. And I didn't see him (or anyone) running 10's. They were running 15's and mostly 16's (but both have run laps in the 13's or maybe better). My team mate (Don Rankin CCS EX #30) held him off for 4 or 5 laps 'till Furtek started stuffing newbs into turns and got the lead. It isn't a race [email protected]!

Whatever. They were the two fast guys out there. Here's some pics form Sunday, 4/17. Rankin is #30 and Furtek is #41

Exactly. I dont know why some people treat track days like a full blown race. If it was licensed racers only track days maybe, but not when there are non racers out there. If they wanna ride like a bat out of hell, there can do the practice days before the races that BHF does.

BTW one of the corner workers told me that he was in the 10's one lap.

Edit: also if someone feels they have to stuff people on trackdays (not the accidental incedents), maybe they shouldnt be allowed to sign up for them. Waiver or not, all it takes is a very good lawyer if someone got seriously hurt by a idiotic manover like that.

.
Because he's using it as practice.
I'd be trying to go as fast as I could too.... safely....I understand that there's lots of traffic. But it doesn't do you any good to run laps at 70%....it's wasting tires and fuel.

And there ya go. I totally agree with the above, but you just have to do it safely. To be honest with you it was my first real track day in about 2 years and I saw some guys that were not racers make some hairball moves to get around my "slow" SV only to get passed on the outside of the next corner.

And you have to remember that what he would consider a close pass is way different than what a trackday only guy might consiser close. I am not making excuses for him just making an observation

I think the only guys who where having problems with his passing where the 1:16 lap guys, from what i could see of him on the track, he did nothing that was hard infact both times he passed me going into turn 3, it was done very clean, also i took some time on sunday to watch from different sections of the track, and he was checking up alot and not making some passes he could have made. i think its just magnafied because he is just that much faster then the rest of the guys out there.
