Post Putnam

Wow! How do I begin?
Champ and Lupi battled it out. I lost track of who the final winner was but according to my mixed up brain this morning I think Champ got Lupi at the end.
KC6, the stay puff marshmellow, got bumped to "I".
I got to do a wheelie on the fiddy. purely by accident.
My kid flunked his "stoppie school" and is beat up pretty bad. More on that later. Enough to say, we look like twins with our left hand in casts.

Lupi post the pics any time we need more laughing.

Thanks guys for all the help. Unreal how these people help out when your hurt.
More later. Looking for parts now.

Champ & Lupi battled it out? Does that mean Lupi finally got bumped? or Champ got flunked back down to B for being terminally slow?

Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery!

I'd be interested to know what happened and what injuries he sustained. It was quite a lengthy delay and I was nervous the chopper was being called in.

He must have beat his face up pretty bad if he looks like your twin!

Short Version
Butches kid runs in the A group.
The rider in front of him decided to stray off track and came back on in T3 I beleive. His back end hooked up and High sided him. Cris (butch's son) tried to avoid hitting the other rider and his bike got full on the binders and endoes. Ambulance ride was the result and I think a hirline fracture in the left wrist/forearm Bike is beat up.

As far as me and Lupi battling it out. Sat I ran in th I group. 2 year off NESBA and you loose alot. My times were the same as when I got bumped but they were rally slow compared to the others out there. So Sunday I ran with the B group. Was alot more fun playn tag with Lupi. And yes I got the last pass.

What kind of times are the slower "I" guys running? I managed a 1:26.8ish the one time I had a clear track in front of me, and I'm hoping to get bumped soon but not if I'm gonna be holding up... everyone

Hard to guage how the "I" guys were running, there weren't too many on Sunday after lunch. when I got bumped to "I" I was running 1:24s and in that group I felt mid pack at that time. Last session I had a few 1:21s and felt like I was faster than mid pack, but it was end of the day so who knows

I'm not going to type too much but the entire injury list is on the NESBA site.
We're back from the doc plus one wheel chair. Ice on and off every half hour until we see doc again Tuesday for more xrays and MRI.
Now I can't wait to see the pictures....Kev? Lupi?

my computer is a POS and the camera software isn't working, so I'll have to hit up walgreens and get the pics on CD, I'll try and post up the father and son shot later tonight.

PS: butch, ya think we could make some rearset adapter plates for my bike?? thats something I'm going to need pretty soon, and I bet a job like that would require a shitload of budweiser

I could draw up some pretty easily. Now making would be best in a shop.
Should also look at the ones on Chris's F3. And I'm guessing here but I heard there is someone we both got to know this weekend that might offer some assistance.

Sorry it took me so long to get on the boards. I went to sleep as soon as I got home last night, and had to swap vehicles and return the trailer tonight.

I had a damned good time. Rusty as sin, and "Dead Bear" was messing with me all day on Saturday since I crashed in that corner the last time I was there.

Best recorded lap was a 132 or 133. I'm sure Champ will chime in and correct me with the accurate time. Marshall commented that we were runnin faster than that when he was draggin my butt around.

I REALLY need to get in better shape. I could drop so much time off that track if I could physically last. So, I concentrated on other aspects of gettin back into the swing of things.

It was amazing to see how the NESBA community came through to help Butch/Chris get loaded up, and Duane(was it?) after their get offs. It's nice to see that people care about their fellow riders there.

I hope everyone heals up quickly!

Is it June yet? I want another track day!

Ciao,
Lupi

I definately feel ya on the physical fitness thing, I'm a good 5'11" and 240lb without gear and that's NOT muscle, so I get real tired by the end of the day.

But here's the thing, when I'm running behind people going about 1:35's or 1:40's, I get tired even faster because I'm spending so much concentration on not rear ending them and on not falling off the bike. But when I got free track ahead of me I was able to run 1:26 and 1:27's pretty easily and it was like cruise control, I didn't feel tired at all.

I think the thing is, to some point, the faster you go the less tiring it gets at a track like Putnam. When I go slow, it's like the gravity is pulling me down and I'm hanging on just to not fall off. But when I go faster like anything below 1:30, it feels like the cornering forces are just pushing me into the seat so I don't have to hold on as hard and I get tired less quickly.

I have to agree that on a lot of aspects, going faster is, "easier" physically. I loved having an open track. I also felt a lot better on Sunday than I did on Saturday.

I just wish my leathers fit better. almost 2 years of not using them, and 30-40 lbs extra crammed in them made it a little, tight!

Thanks for the picture and all the help.
Been a long night changing ice every half hour.

Did you find the "boys" yet?

As far as fatique on the track, faster is not easier, smoother is easier and faster. The smoother you ride, the less effort is exerted, the faster the result.
Read almost any race training article, a relaxed rider makes fewer corrections and shifts far less than the death grippers. Both may have the ability but sooner than later the death gripper will fatique and loose mental focus and begin to make small mistakes. Those mistakes require corrective actions, more focus, more effort and eventually slower speeds. Observe almost any sport, the best usually exhibit an effortless appearance to superior results. "They make it look easy" is heard from commentators all the time.

Yeah, I think the, "boys" crawled back home some time Monday morning.

I guess what I meant about going faster being easier was that I found how much I was really sand bagging my speeds. When I went faster, I just stoped trying to concentrate on so many little things and just let everything flow.

I was pretty worried about getting physically tired that I never really pushed very hard at all. Then again, I had a lot of fun, didn't crash, and finally got back into some semblance of a groove by Sunday afternoon after 2 years off!

When's the next track day?
