Putnam 10/15-16 Roll Call

So, after a few of us got our addiction fueled this weekend... who is heading to Putnam next weekend?

I am! I have heard great things about the track and want to go check it out.

Mt. Meridian, IN, only $150 a day.

Track info - http://www.putnampark.com/

Post up if you are going, hope to see you there.

Wink

Piwco,

You may want to look at staying in Bloomington if Greencastle area is booked up. It is 43 miles south, and the location of Indiana University. Tons of hotels there, perhaps they have better availability.

yeah pretty much everything in indy area is booked. I found a few hotels near bloomington but its about $100 per night. I think from the looks of it we are going to be leaving at 2:00 in the morning from here. We have 8 people going so we figure switch drivers every so often...

let me know what you end up finding

Try Indianapolis, I got a room for like $40 a night. About the same distance as Bloomington.

Check orbitz.com or some site like that, there are a bunch of them for around the $40 range. I think I'm staying at the Motel 6 by the airport for $38.

Yep, have to have the bike set-up right for your weight. I think mine is close, but Matt is the guy to make it perfect.

Yea, Preload. It makes a huge difference.

I did not set mine and the guy who I bought the bike from is about 25 - 30 lbs heavier than me. The result was that I was riding on rock hard suspension and wound up highsiding quite spectacularly in turn 6 at Blackhawk...they say it was spectacular, only thing I remember is railing through turn 5 to set up a pass on a CBR1000RR and then waking up in the ambulance on the way to Rockford Memorial. NOT GOOD.

Setup your suspension. If you don't know how, get someone to help you and LEARN how from watching them and reading up on the subject. Suspension for Mortals by Max Mcallister of Traxxion Dynamics is a real good place to start doing your homework. A google search turns up some OK stuff as well.

A fellow CLSB'er let me view the "suspension for mortals" DVD. TWO thimbs WAY up there! Max stays away from too much engineering mumbo jumbo but with some knowlege you understand where he is heading.

Wish I could join you guys this weekend, but I am off to pick up a track SV for my little brother. Next season, TWO LOCKHART BROTHERS RACING has "cease and desist" written all over it eh? LOL

Ron is the one that convinced me to get my set up looked at after my low-side this past Monday. Looking forward to having Matt get me ready.

David - thanks for the link, I just ordered the DVD set. Looking forward to a better working understanding of suspension.
