Retired Numbers?

To those of you who are involved in the NESBA inner circles, I was curious if they ever considered ensuring that certain numbers are retired? There was a typo in another post that made me think about Ytrap and his numbers. I don't know if this is something they do, or possibly did, but I thought it would be fitting for the numbers 819 not to be used at NESBA events.

Maybe I'm just being too sensitive this morning, or maybe the symbolism of my first trackday of this year being Blackhawk again is just making the memories come back.

God Speed Ytrap!

I brought this up on the NESBA boards a while back... It seemed to go over well, but I have no idea the procedure. Not like there is a form to fill out, you know? I'll ask Garth about it this weekend.

You could check the NESBA Who's Who post Wink started, then inquire about a number.

AJ,

You are missing the point. Shannon died at Blackhawk last year, and the issue that Erin is bringing up is related to retiring Shannon and/or other people's numbers over the years. Retiring would mean that number would be removed from the available bike numbers for anyone, forever.

I did not ask Chris Moon about retiring specifically a while back, but I did ask him how we go about getting our numbers. He said that NESBA lets anyone use any numbers that they choose, and if someone else has that number, it is ok. In order to change your NESBA number, all you need to do is change it on their website, and all future events will come up wih the new number.

Anyhow, neat idea Erin. I do not think that the current software allows for number conflict look-ups, or in this case lock-outs.

On another note, I hope to see you at BHF this weekend. Riding or not, at least come up and visit. Big BBQ and drunk this Saturday night.

Wink

Wink,

They could just set the number up with an expiration date of 2099, therefore rejecting any attempts to use it. But I don't know squat about the system so that might not be possible.

The system allows identical numbers. So that would have no effect.

Great idea. Was going to wait a bit with this but this is a good time as any. A BHF date/weekend will be held in Shannon's honor this year and will also be used as a fund raiser type of thing. As soon as We get through the big RA date the specifics will be announced etc.

Cool idea Garth, thanks. I'd be happy to volunteer if you need any help with it, as I am sure that a few people here would.

Talking

I would just like to add that there are a lot of people outside of CLSB that will need to be made aware of these goings on. Specifically the folks on the ZRX board which Shannon was a very important member. I know where his number is now, with wfo3717. I have his old leathers. All fitting when the time comes. I volunteer to be as helpful as time permits.

p.s. please don't let this conflict with the CCS schedule...Shannon wants us to race.

Garth, you know that I will make any arrangements needed to be there, just let me know what you need as far as assistance.

GREAT IDEA!

Being at Blackhawk on Saturday... pitted in the same place... it being my first trackday of the year this year.. I though the moment of sunshine we got before noon was Shannon shining down on us!
