Putnam: Should I?

Well, the real track bike is still down on parts. The only other option is the Husky, but I'm not sure it'd be a good idea to try and run that with NESBA 'I' at Putnam this weekend. I did autobahn north with it yesterday, but that was another group in which 'I' is significantly slower.

So, do I risk being a rolling chicane on a 53hp bike that tops out at 95mph, or do I eat the registration fee?

I have to be honest here and tell you to pass.....

A couple years ago a dealer did a track day with some guy on a motard that
got hit from behind by a gixxer that was blind in traffic and couldn't see him.

Someone died in that crash.

Big speed disparity is not to be messed with.

I hear what you're saying Blarney, and I think you're prolly right. I should be packing for the move anyway

The Husky is fine on smaller tracks with slower guys. many of the 'I' group with the other guys were slalom cones for me on ABN.

I've never done Putnam, so I wasn't sure how fast it was. Looking at the layout and hearing from y'all, it definitely seems the SM wouldn't be suited.

just emailed NESBA about the credit. Hopefully it'll all work out. They've come through for me before when I crashed the Duc. Thats one of the reasons I think NESBA is the best track day org out there.

Yup. After lunch, the pushrod seal gave out on the 749, so my clutch was puking oil. I took the Husky out for the last 2 sessions w/ the N group, since I wasn't sure what the bike could do or what sort of adjustments I'd have to make for it.
I it all day yesterday at ABN. The thing is surprisingly capable, just not very fast. It could use a smaller rear sprocket. I was clicking into 6th before I was completely outta T9 there. It just owned the corners though. Fun to slide around a bit too.

Someone was there on a supermoto on Monday riding in the A group.

We played for a session..... those things get around well.

Putnam OTOH has a much longer front straight.

Was it the guy on the KTM? He's the regional rep for them, and a NESBA CR out in Indy. I think he used to race, too. Really cool guy.

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.

Not sure really......

He tried a couple passes during my warm-up lap and I thought.... no F&*ing way
I want this Motard guy in front of me as he'll mess up my rythym. I very cleanly
resisted his two pass attempts with other traffic and motor.

THen, I put my head down and ran four or five laps I guess beofre the checkers...... I did slow down a bit on the last 1/2 lap but coming through the backstraight into the busstop on the North course ( after taking checkers ) I looked back and he was back with me..... so I left him... but not by all that far.

WOuld be interesting to hear his account of it.
