Roll Call: MAM July 15-16, 2006

Greeting folks! NESBA has another great track for us to visit this coming week. So post up as to who is going to Mid-America Motorplex You can sign up at NESBA if you haven't already done so!

So far we have:
Tom & Carol Larson
Ron Hix
Wink
Chris Irwin (The Grouch)
TWink
Dave & Mike Lockhart (5Axis)
Yamaweezle
Bfly
Zeus9R - Brent

Here is a track map. Many that have been there say that is a great track and well worth the drive. We'll be running the full track.

Mid America Motorplex
is located at the following address:

19340 Jesup Ave.
Pacific Junction, IA 51561

MAM is located next to Interstate I-29 in Iowa, approximately 20 minutes from downtown Omaha, NE. When driving south from the Omaha metro area, take I-29 to the Glenwood exit (exit #35), and turn right (west). At the stop sign, turn left (south) onto 190th Street, go about 1 mile to Jesup Ave. and turn left, the track will be on your left.

Road Racers use GATE 5

How tight is turn 1 after that long straight? Looks like it could really get that pucker factor going.

MAM has a long front straight, T1 is about the speed of BHF's T1

for T2 you don't need to wing out all the way to the out side cause your actually making a straight line to the inside of T3 and turning in, as your turning keep an eye out of the rumble strip, thats were your going to have to turn in tighter, to the inside of the bumps.

T4 is FAST! Some bumps at the exit

T5/6 get to the inside quick and then about halfway around roll the throttle on hard

T7/8 should feel like one big constant radius turn.

T9 is fast but you don't need to push that turn because if you miss you mess up the two truns after it, line yourself up to last apex T10 when you can get a wicked drive around T11, its really widens out at the exit.

T12 is really fast but you have to use some brakes and click a down shift, only because you don't have time between it and the next turn. Then click another down as you flick the bike for T13, then click one more down for teh last turn T14, its tight at the entrance but you can get on the gas hard and fast.

"A" I'd say less than 1:40
"I" -1:50
"B" -2:00

I think Robbert Jenson was running 1:28s, DanO 1:31ish

Sounds like a good track. Thanks for the lap times.

Chris, wrt first new track in "A", no worries. Just be sure to be out there first session when the CRs are trying to remember the lines as well. They'll have it down after a few laps. You know who they are without the shirts on, and many of them have been there before, so they know the lines.

Gonna be a fun time.

Looks like a fun track. Wish I could go but the distance doesn't quite work with my schedule.

Speaking of lap times. Can someone put a sticky together of NESBA lap time ranges in B, I, and A for all the tracks? It would be a nice reference to have.

Nolan, I am going to put together a thread with relation to all the links and dates and various comments with regards to NESBA Midwest tracks. It will have the links to all the tracks, perhaps a map or so, and hopefully I can get the NESBA dates there as well.

As far as lap times, they range from day to day and from rider to rider, so lap times isn't the only way to judge who is in which group. From my understanding, the target is to be smooth, consistent, and to pass safely within the rules. If people are ready for a bump, then the group captain or one of the CRs may either evaluate on a one on one basis, or recommend a bump.

Check with Hix, Zeus9R or Barry. They all are CRs, and posters on this board and may be able to provide further clarification.

You know I will be there. This track is one of my favorite tracks. It has fast parts and some very technical stuff. This track will work you hard too. It does not look like it on a track map though but you will be worn out by the end of the day if not sooner.

Chris if you want I can give you a tour in the morning. I think I can do this track with my eyes closed I have done so many laps there.

We can get as big of a Congo line going as you want. I am just worried Ron won't be able to keep up.

Well I guess you won't be there tell around 2:00 am. I know Ron will be napping so you might also well snuggle up with him for a nap too.

MAM is a great facility, management and staff are great, too! Only track I've ever been to that had flowers and hand lotion in the ladies room.

And the course itself is soooooo much fun - to me, it has a "feel" much like Blackhawk!
